If you're looking at a 16/512 M2 air, spend the extra 150 and get this instead. The screen and speaker upgrade alone is worth it.

Probably, but it's never that simple. The Air is soooo much lighter, has a longer battery life, and faster single core performance (for like 3 minutes until it starts to throttle). If mobility/battery isn't your top priority, the 14"Pro will pretty much beat it every other way.

The M2 MacBook Pro shouldn't exist. Unless you're in love with the touchbar there is no reason to get it over an M2 Macbook Air.

Just ordered this model off Best Buy this morning and now the price dropped. Do you think they'd adjust my total?

If I didn't need the apple education bundle, then I would get the BestBuy deal because I rather save $100 upfront then have to deal with a $150 giftcard. Also, discover has a 5% cash back deal for PayPal purchases which can be used at BestBuy but I was not able to use at the Apple education store. Lastly, BestBuy seems to have these in stock now, whereas from Apple you will have to wait a bit.

Any suggestion between the MacBook Pro 13" (M2 Chip - 2022 model) vs. MacBook Pro 14" (M1 Pro Chip - 2021 model)?
The latest one (2022) with M2 chip comes with a longer battery life and also Touch ID and is over $500 cheaper
The one from before (2021) with M1 Pro chip comes with a shorter battery life but much powerful processor although this is over $500 costly.

I would highly appreciate the advice

I've been realizing the dropping prices on this prob means the m2 14 and 16 are going to be significantly better

Not really. It's been close to this price recently and sometimes even lower.

Initially I was going to get the MacBook air student discount but after seeing tons of review of the crappy ssd I realized I'd need 512 and after seeing more reviews I've convinced myself to get 16gb/512ssd. Now that i see this, it seems like a no brainer... I mainly use my laptop for webbroswing and editing documents. What should I do

M1 air base is a really good deal. I was almost going to buy this buy decided on the m1 air 256 GB with 16 GB ram and only because I'm going to do software development on it. For normal productivity you'll probably never even reach the limits of a base m1 air. I know a software engineer who codes on the base m1 air also and he was trying to get me not to buy the 16 GB lol. I'm going to hold out for the m2 14 or 16 and use the m1 air for travelling.

The m2 pros are rumored to use a different architecture right?

FYI, if you're in Florida, we're scheduled to have a tax holiday for computers starting Monday the 25th. Hopefully one or both of these deals will still be available then.

The screen resolution on the two don't compare (2560x1600 vs 3024 x 1964) as does the power on the M1 Pro vs M2, although the M2 is more efficient. If you need that power and can make productive use of the extra 40% odd screen the M1 Pro is better

What's the weight difference? A pound? If that extra lb is too much the lighter model isn't going to save you. Yeah, you have bragging rights. But that's about it Smilie
