The 5600G has 16MB of cache instead of 32MB on the 5600, and only supports PCI Express 3.

Just keep in mind that this will be the last one that you can upgrade using your current hardware. Next cycle you'll be needing a new motherboard and memory. Gotta give AMD props for keeping board combability over the years, but it's time to move forward with AM5.

I have a 1600 af from when it was $85 running @3.9GHz with a 1070; I really got it as a stop gap at the time. Should I be looking at this as a value upgrade?

I've gone from the 3600 to a 5600x. In CPU bound games like CS GO, I've seen upwards up of 30-40% increase since I game in 1280x960. But in less CPU game scenarios I'm seeing more like 15-20%. Up to you if those are gains are worth it.
Why the wierd monitor?

Is this worth an upgrade from the Ryzen 5 1600 (af) processor?
Depends. Is your current cpu slowing you down? So you frequently hit 100% cpu usage?

No. It's the cheaper version that uses less power.

Will this cpu work with as rock x370 killer sli/ac?
Put in some effort and go to the support website at asrock and look at the compatibility list. Pay attention to Bios version needed.

It's clocked 100mzh slower. That's the only difference.

I have a 1080p 360hz monitor that I use purely for competitive FPS. I game at that resolution because it's what I grew up playing CS 1.3 to 1.6. Back then there was no HD, and getting the best FPS meant lowering the resolution. I also like the FoV in lower resolution, but it's mainly out of habit.

But some people are not looking for a gaming PC.
But rather are buying this for an office and multi-monitor PC with a decent igpu.

Agreed. If I'm still content, I'll just wait til a more major upgrade rather than just a $140 chip at this point.

I think its a good upgeade for anyone on Zen/Zen+
Bit more questionable if on Zen2. Yes Zen4 is later this year but im sure both the cpus and mobos will be expensive. Maybe not as expensive as Zen3 launch (5600X was $300) but something to keep in mind. Id be surprised if Zen4 is more than 10-15% faster than Zen3.
