Is this overkill for a 1300 sq ft apartment? I can only use two of the three right? Is it worse to have router overlap on coverage? I was thinking of having one in the living room and about twenty feet away would be the other router hooked to my computer.

Basically Higher bandwidth and faster connection. Its not much concern right now as most devices have wifi 5 and even those with wifi 6 adapters support wifi 5 and will continue to for next several years. If you are concerned with being future proof and have a connection more than 1 gbps from your ISP you might wanna go for this.

Yes, you will need to disable the router portion of your combo, plug one Deco into the modem and the other Decos will receive the signal from the main Deco.

This is a great deal if you need wifi coverage for a large house and can get that price at checkout. I had these for awhile and they were the fastest, most reliable router/mesh I have ever experienced and the app is fantastic (the only downside is limited ethernet ports: one in, one out). Plus, a TP-Link product that looks like toilet paper rolls just has to make you smile 😁
