2nd Gen Cube is better as said. I have 2 of these and 2 of the 4K Max sticks and the Cube is faster/snappier. It has double the internal storage (16GB vs 8GB) which helps if you use Kodi. Another advantage is it comes with a wired ethernet adapter which I use.

Good chance that Amazon will match the price if both Best Buy and Target have it cheaper. If that happens you can get the 20% trade-in discount.

Have 4 cubes, 2 old, 2 new.

2 old have slowed down terribly, but still stream once you get there.

2 new are fantastic and superior for me to the sticks because I can tell it to turn on or off tv without even needing the remote.

Wish Amazon made it easier to swap old for new and get credit. Last time I tried to send an old one they messed up and told me I sent the wrong thing (I didn't), 3 months later they apologized and gave a credit.

Nonetheless now Id have to send one in, be without it and wait for the credit to use on a sale...annoying

I got this on Prime Day for peanuts with a trade in. The initial setup was incredibly flaky with networking. Wifi was quite poor next to my hard wired mesh router. The Ethernet was also flaky initially. There were issues with my VPN. I was going to return it. Then I hooked up my ethernet cable directly to the mesh point instead of my small switch. This seemed to fix things. I haven't used it much, but it seems to be working fine now. It is a very snappy device, but beware of potential networking issues. Maybe I will try the cable matters Ethernet adapter.
Why are u using WiFi with this, use the ether er adapter, that's half the point of owning this

I'm not fan of Tizen OS. Thinking of NVDiA Shield TV Pro or Google Chromecast with Google TV or Fire TV Cube 4K. Which is the btter wrt performace? Appriciate feedbacks. Thanks!

Because Ethernet was not working with a VPN initially.

Skimmed through 5 pages. No mention about comparison with roku. Is this a no brainer? Pardon my ignorance but how does it compare to the latest roku deal; ultra LT for $55?

Disable updates first thing so you don't update to the newer crappier slower main menu.

i doubt it for many reasons...

the cube design was out of the need for a huge heatsink for that 922 cpu.
once they had more room, it was cheap and easy to throw in other stuff.
the audience that uses such android devices for gaming or plex is small.

latest 4k max stick already does everything you'd want in a tv stick,
and better low heat cpu/gpu/ram already exist with less heatsink need.
O wow looks like we are getting one!1

Got mine today. Way better (faster) than my old cube. So easy to set up. Literally copied itself from the old cube. Thanks OP!
