Just be prepared for the possibility of receiving damaged drives. NewEgg does crappy packing. I won't buy drives from them.

They're regular drives, just have some firmware optimization for big arrays and better resiliency against vibrations from adjacent drives. I have seven of the X10 in my system, and they're just regular SATA and power.

Yep. Consumer SATA drives are normally in the high 20's dB for noise. This drive is 32dB to 34dB. Remember decibels are logarithmic so this isn't as small a difference as it seems.

Newegg itself is listing it as a five year warranty despite being OEM, which is the standard warranty on these. Is that not correct?

Either NewEgg is wrong, or they are the ones providing the warranty. According to Seagate, "If your product was sold to an authorized distributor, reseller, or retailer, they are the best resources to obtain warranty replacement." NewEgg is listed as one of their authorized retailers.

The wording is interesting. It states that the sellers are "the best resources," but not the only resources. I wonder if that means that Seagate might also honor the warranty.

NewEgg's generic statement isn't very helpful. Basically, they say to contact the manufacturer, but says nothing about OEM devices.

Can this be installed like any regular drive in my PC, or is this only for enterprise setups, e.g. in a rack?

Is this overkill for a PC? I have 30+ TB of video data that needs editing and converting to HEVC so I need a fast reliable hard drive. They're currently stored on 5400rpm external drives which are very slow for editing. The internal 1TB SSD is always full so I need a hard drive and I'm hoping this would be good

Enterprise drives can be installed in a PC if you wish. They just might be noisier and give off more heat.

Yes and your hearing is also logarithmic, so perceptually it is small even thought the sonic power will have doubled ever 3db.
