Don't bother with anything less than the 4k max for 35.
Anybody thinking this needs to understand the difference between the interfaces of Fire OS and Android TV (ONN).. While ONN delivers a more fluid, lag-free performance, Fire OS is just better than Android TV, in that it requires less navigation on the remote to achieve the same tasks. e.g.
1. Lack of dedicated fast forward and rewind buttons on Android TV remotes
2. In sideloaded apps, using voice search is simple on Fire OS (click on the text input box, click on mic button and speak into it, hit enter on the already highlighted "next" button) vs. on Android TV you need to click on the text input box, navigate to the mic button, click on the mic button, speak, then navigate to the "enter" button and then hit it)
I had both and returned the ONN box even though it was only $20.
Not really. You giving up Dolby Vision and Atmos with Walmart box.

Is this dead? It says "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

Old promo code that has been reposted countless times now. Also if you can wait for Black Friday, I'd wait for Firestick 4K Max at this price.

New Fire TV cube was announced yesterday. Sticks will be forthcoming (they always sell the low-volume device to work out the bugs before selling the cheaper sticks to a much larger consumer base). Hurry to get the old version before it is obsolesced by the new version.

Of course it is.
Measurable facts.
4k firestick is bloated with the fire interface (stock launcher) and is generally slow and buggy, seems like you have to restart it daily in order to get it to be usable. The onn box launcher can be replaced with a custom launcher and the device is less bloated from the start with more available RAM at any given point. Makes running/opening apps much more pleasant experience.

I just want to get consistent 4k/60hz with HDR and Atmos. Should I get the Nvidia Shield Pro or wait for the next version? The Shield Pro is still hdmi 2.0b (instead of 2.1), and the Fire TV Cube is only 10/100 ethernet (instead of gigabit ethernet) so neither one of them is ideal.... sigh.

The Prime price is now $24.99 without a promo code.

If you have an old Fire Stick, the 20% off coupon from trading-in the Stick would bring the price of a Cube down to $36.
