It says the current price is $14.87 LOWER than the previous price.

I've never had a Cryo, but heard a lot of good things about it from those who do. List price of $68.99 is a joke. Blade steel is 8Cr13MoV, which Kershaw does a competent heat treat on in my experience. Buried in the Amazon ad specifications it says the country of origin is U.S., but this knife is absolutely made in China. 2.75" blade, framelock, SpeedSafe assisted opening, four position pocket clip, flipper tab and thumb studs, all-stainless build, solid little knife with very good reviews.

But the knife game is getting mighty competitive in the $30 range if you look at Ganzo, QSP, CRJB, and others.
The blackwash version is $28.18 for those who are interested.

Great small EDC knife. Just got one myself. Sharp and fast to deploy. How well the steel will be over time I'll know in a few months. But right now, it is exactly what I needed.

What's the best $30 knife in your opinion?

I've had this thing for 4 years and it's very well built and reliable. I've only sharpened it twice since I've had it.

I got one of these 6 years ago and after a couple of months the paint on the body got discolored and sorta peeled in places. It's hard to describe because I've never seen anything like it. It looked like rust but the knive was never wet or outside of anything like that. It also felt weird in my hand. Not a very good design.

I prefer the larger size of the Cryo II, but both are great knives. I've daily carried the blackwash version for several years now and it's held up great. Certainly not the lightest option, but I think that's part of the appeal for me. It feels substantial and easy to hold while using it.

anecdotal experience, it's overpriced for what you get, didn't stay sharp as the steel is soft-ish, better out there in the price range imo

IMHO, these are great for the price (I'm preferential to the blackwash). Before I starting buying benchmades, I cycled between the cryo and cryo II pretty much every day for 6+ years. They're easy to sharpen, hold an edge well, and feel like a much more expensive knife. The Cryo/II may be the only pocket knife I've ever held where I liked the added weight (it's not heavy by any means, but it feels like a durable knife that can take some abuse).

Check out Opinel Knives as a serious contender. Most knife enthusiasts know of them as the go-to budget knife with the best blade quality. They are French, started up in 1890. They have sharp, long lasting, easy to maintain blades. Their only downside is a wooden handle with no clip. If you can get past that, you will not find a better blade for the price. I have had several over the past 5 years.
