Rather wait for the 5700x be back on sale unless you need for some reason the gpu on the chip. This processor does not support PCIe 4.0 and has 16mb less cache which equals in some serious performance losses depending what you other hardware you use.

Great chip. Makes one heck of a NAS/VM/App server.

Would match up nicely with the Cooler Master NR200 that's on sale for $50 after MIR.

Going to build a system using this chip inside the NZXT H1 v2 that was on sale for 200. I don't game but I do some rare occasional photo/video editing of family photos. Please recommend an m-ITX motherboard and compatible set of RAM? From what I've read, the 5700g loves fast DDR4 even though AMD caps it at 3600mhz. But some on reddit have said that it will accept 4000mhz DDR4. I just need a good motherboard that I can accept 4000mhz DDR4 without needing to overclock it. Suggestions will be appreciated!

Can you run a non igpu chip and run it headless like those raptorium miners?

Does igpu have a workload in a NAS I don't think the encoders/decoders needed for streaming start until dGPU level graphics.

IMHO you can get by fine with regular DDR4-3200 for your use case, and any extra money/performance would have a minimal improvement. The motherboads from Asus, ASrock, and Gigabyte are all fine to me, and the features you want like wifi would weigh more heavily for my recommendation. IMO you can't go wrong for your use case if you stick with last gen stuff like this Ryzen 5700G.

Oh, and pick your motherboard first then refer to their list of qualified/supported memory modules, try to stick with those. Other modules might be ok but it's nice to avoid problems there.

Isn't that motherboard for Intel CPUs only?

Sorry, just fixed it.

It's the same board I have in my PC:

HZXT H1 V1
5900X
4400mhz 19cl
6800xt

5000 Series (without the G) will support PCIe 4.0 oh with the exception of the 5500 since its not a true 5000 series cpu.

doesn't it also depend on the MB chipset? I just found out 3700x which i bought with the 'free' asus 550, both support pcie4.0 but when paired together, m.2 slots (and other pcie4) will only run at pcie3.0 speed. Not a problem for now but if i ever want to upgrade hard drives in 2 m.2 slots i won't be able to enjoy 4.0 speed. disappointing. why does AMD do this.
