How does Neweggs price protection work? If it goes lower anytime in November won't they refund the difference? Seems like there might not be much risk in buying now. I'm very tempted...
I think the Black Friday price protection only works on items marked with that label. It is not on the whole site.

For items that are marked that way, if the price of the item is lowered before Nov 26, then you will automatically get a refund.

Slightly above your price point, the GIGABYTE B450 AORUS M can be found on Amazon for $80. The only thing below that right now would be the MSI A520M-A PRO at B&H. I don't really like that one due to the lack of heat sinks on the VRM. Another option would be to look for used on ebay.

Is it terrible to match this up with an A320 board? If you're not OCing or intending to run 100% CPU hard AVX loads for days at a time?
Do you already have this A320 motherboard and just want to upgrade the CPU? If so, you should look up if the BIOS has been updated to support the 5000 series. It should be okay for light work like email and web surfing.

If you are buying a new motherboard, then I really recommend against that. A320 motherboard has a good chance of being old with an old BIOS that doesn't work with 5000 series. The CPU won't boot. You would need to borrow an older CPU to boot and then update the BIOS and then put in the new 5600.

If you only want a low cost office PC, then a 520 chipset is newer. And for the lowest cost, I would get the 5600G, so you don't have to buy a graphics card as you would for the 5600 here.

Can't beat the Asus Prime B450m ii with bios flashback for $80 or the AsRock B550m Riptide is $10 more. Pairing a Zen 3 CPU with a B450 without bios flashback is a little risky.

I very narrowly resisted this - holding out for just a little cheaper for Black Friday..... plus, I don't care about an included game, just want rock bottom price on it.

I actually might pick this up. I still haven't played uncharted. However, not sure if it would be good to pair with a 6800xt tho. That's the gpu I'm aiming for this holiday/black friday

Confirm you can get a BIOS update that supports it first!

So a AB350M pro 4 is in the same boat here?

The ASRock AB350M Pro 4 will support this 5600 with BIOS P7.20. There is no guarantee that the board you buy today will have this newer BIOS. In which case, you will have to borrow a CPU to update the BIOS. If you have this board already, update the BIOS first. If you don't, I would buy something else.

In my opinion, this chip should be paired with a MSI or Gigabyte Aorus B450 board or a B550 board. The reason for suggesting MSI or Aorus is because they both have CPU-less flashing, meaning that even if you get old stock with an old BIOS, you can update the board to support the 5000 series CPUs. B550 is better, and not much more. Even with these, there is a chance you could get an old BIOS, but I think it is less likely than with B450.

In my opinion, B320 and B520 are better for pairing with a xxxxG CPU. Those are the low cost boards good for low cost integrated graphics chips. If you can afford a discrete GPU card, you can afford to get a better motherboard, not to mention that you will likely want the better VRM to power those GPU boards.
