I have seen zero issues with my standard Ryobi batteries for years. Not sure if your intention to shift us to more expensive brand
Maybe your issues come from those adapters and unintended usages.
18V Ryobi power tools and batteries have been absolutely fantastic for me.

I think these were $99 this past weekend, what are the odds of these going lower on BF?

I think those were the High Performance (HP) ones also mentioned in this SD. The $79 ones are for the regular ones.

Has anyone on here tested regular VS HP?
I have not but if the voltage and stated capacity is the same I suspect they are the same. Might open a couple this weekend if nobody else has.

I'm not an expert, but I use inverter + battery tender to keep car batteries topped up every other month or so. HP battery doesn't get too hot in summer months. If you have bigger tools, this might make lot of difference.

The HP batteries have an extra connector on then that aligns with HP tools to signal that they can draw more power. My understanding is that it should otherwise be similar on non HP tools.

Have seen YT vids comparing them and they got the same results. However I suspect higher quality cells being used is the difference at best.

I have been through 3 or 4 ryobi batteries in the last 5 years of DIY use. I personally decided I will NEVER buy another ryobi battery. I use an adapter and dewalt batteries best decision I ever made. Even swapped my daughter's power wheel over to be powered by dewalt 20v batteries.

Just curious if these would work in a 18v DeWalt drill. They look very similar from what I can tell, but doubt two brands would have used the same design. Unless because back then they didn't use proprietary shapes to their batteries. Only need one for backup.

Anybody know?

This probably helps eliminate the need for someone to answer my question below your post. Sounds like I shouldn't bother.

Regular use Chinese cells. Plus use Samsung or Sony cells. Much higher quality and last longer short and long term, and produce more power. Several videos on YouTube comparing them. This deal will come up soon for $99 with a free tool. ($20 tool) vs this deal.

You may be able to get a 3rd party adapter on Amazon. I wouldn't risk damaging my battery or tools though.
