Buy a used Pixel 4 from Swappa for around $120, trade it in to Google Store and pay $55 to get a Pixel 6a.
Plus, search Pixel superfan referral and you can get $100 store credit.
Repped.
Found the fresh referral codes on reddit.

The issue seems to be widespread -- it's hard to say exactly what percentage of owners are affected, but it appears to be a significant risk. People seem to have narrowed it down to being a hardware problem with the Exynos modem used in the phone. From what I've gathered, the bottom line is that it just has very weak reception, so if the signals in the areas you travel aren't stellar you are likely to face frustration, e.g. constantly switching airplane mode on and off or rebooting to regain a signal.
Still deciding if I want to take the chance on this -- I can trade in my Pixel 5a and upgrade to this for free so it's tempting. Looks like you have 30 days after you receive the phone to send your old phone to Google for the full trade-in value, so if I do get the 6a I plan to test the hell out of the connectivity right away, so if there are any issues I can just return it and forget the whole thing (I assume there are no return shipping fees, can someone verify?)

Once you're in the Samsung ecosystem and keeping up with all the SD deal stacks, they're an overall better deal, imo.
Anyone here done a trade in through Google? What's the process like and time frame for trade in rebate?

This phone has support for 5 more years on both GrapheneOS [grapheneos.org]and CalyxOS [calyxos.org].
Those are fantastic choices for privacy respecting OSes for phones, and they improve battery life and functionality.
Consider it.
Other than not having Pixel exclusive features, what else is affected by switching over? Does the camera get affected? This phone's exceptional camera relies on software to be that good, unless I'm wrong.
Any thoughts?

Any chance these Pixels will drop to around $200 in 6 months? They're updated for so long, they would still have a lot of life at that point.
This Pixel 6a is tempting the hell out of me. I go for budget as can be; my current phone is a 2020 Mogo G Stylus that came to about $120 after rebates. I think that was the most I'd paid for a phone at that time, lol. It still runs great, but no more security updates (and it won't get further than Android 11, which isn't so bad as of now).

Currently use pixel 3a, don't care other features except camera quality. Is it worth upgrading to 6a?
