*Official* Android OS Phone Chat, Questions, & Help Thread -

14,178 1,195 October 22, 2009 at 06:05 PM in Chat
Yahoo!

Our very own thread to discuss and chat about the OS, ROM's, apps from Android Market, our Android phones, tips & tricks, questions, and help issues. With the different phones out now and to be released from various carriers, I figure we all have a lot in common with the Android OS. We can discuss what we like, need help with, what apps are cool or don't work well, as well as questions and help issues. Given that CSR's from the various carriers may know less than we do, this thread is for all of us so we can help one another.

I could, but I would lose the HTC "Sense" UI. Plus I don't know what I'm doing......

Honestly, I'm pretty sure I'd rather go with Android than my iPhone if it weren't for the difference in the amount of apps available. I just enjoy the sheer volume and diversity of apps that Apple has... other than that, I'd probably be happier with an Android phone, unless Apple can get off their ass and start actual multitasking and stuff. Sigh.
are there apps you really need that aren't available on Android? Everytime I've looked for something and haven't seemd to find it, I'll post in a forum and someone leads me to exactly what I was looking for. The only two things I would really like, but aren't a deal breaker for me at this point are voice dialing via bluetooth and caller-id name announce via bluetooth.

I'm really liking the touch pro 2's keyboard, but $350 ON CONTRACT from t-mobile? Nono I'd rather get the $50 rebate through AT&T...

Also, any updates on that Project Black thing from tmobile?

hey saint.. when you leave a program and go back to the home screen how long does it take? all the hero roms that i put on my g1 take forever to close an app and go back to the home screen.. i was wondering if the real thin is faster

my G2 goes back real quick (with 1-2 secs) with stock ROM and with CM it's almost instant. I'm trying out FreshFace and I like some of the features, but it seems to be dragging my g2 to a crawl, including switching back to home.

Why voice dialling and caller-id via Bluetooth?

Wow, I'll install that on my wife's Hero! I don't know how many times we have been out, on a car trip, or in another city and wished something like that was available! The QR code really makes it handy to locate the exact app in AM. Thanks for posting it.

I dunno, I don't have an Android handset to browse the full set of Apps. All I know is I like having all of Apple's apps at hand for free Blush Hide

I use my phone in the car a lot and don't want to have to try dialing via the phone and I also like knowing who's calling before I pick up. I have an app loaded that will speak the name of the contact if it's in my contact list. It only says it thru the phone speaker. I'd like to have it come out of the bluetooth.

Something just dawned on me.......a lot of my music files are in the lossless FLAC format, so these won't play on the HTC Hero/Android music player if I transfer them all over to the microSD, right?

alot of that depends on your bluetooth device.. when i had a ford focus loaner while they worked on my truck the bluetooth built into it would let me voice dial and so does the bluetooth on my clarion radio in my truck.. bluetooth headsets dont do it though..
