On the Samsung website I have first responders discount (may work with others like EPP or student) which has the pro version with the same specs with i7 16gb ram and 1tb drive for $850.

Yep Planning on getting the non pro galaxy book2 using a student discount. If will be $599. There's also 12% CB via a well known CB site

One of the reason for screen cracking is, there is flex between the hinges at the bottom. So holding the laptop at the bottom will cause the screen to crack. We should hold it upside down.
