WTF? Why would 1 TB be too small for OS drive? Which OS takes up 1 TB?

That drive is far slower. If you only care about storage and ps5 usage (rated speed doesn't affect load times/usage based on various findings) then makes sense.

1tb seems too small for an os drive these days.. I want to see 4tb+ become mainstream by the end of next year. Its time to ramp up densities.
I'm worried about ram and ssd. I'm running out of both. 16/1 is barely enough for me. Looking into another 16 ram and 2tb ssd.

Ram is specialty case.. you have to be utilizing north of 12gb consistently to justify going lager on ram. 32gb ddr4 was overkill on my last laptop, luckily i did not go ddr5 and reused them in new laptop. The old one now used for work... im gonna say with ssd for the time being get the biggest you can afford and do some research about price/speed/quality factors, i just got fury 2tb ssd.. if it drops another $20 on bf/cm i wont be disappointed...

fury... what brand is that? i discovered VM which i use to test apps before i install on main disk. It takes up ram. also video editing. I can't even run VMW window higher than 720p for some reason. My video card is 8gb radeon 480 strix. i think i need 32gb ram. not even looking into laptops with less than 32g.

why not just get this 2TB for $110 and add a $9 heatsink?

Unless Crucial switched things on the p5 plus it's TLC with 600 TBW endurance. So it's faster and will last longer than the qlc solidgm drive.

I wouldn't consider putting this in a Laptop, runs too hot and is power hungry. I would go with the Hynix Gold P31 for a laptop(and did). No heat sync needed and hits top end of benchmarks for Gen 3s Wink

This is the correct answer, Hynix (Hyundai) harddrives are pretty rock solid. Solidigm is the amalgamation of the purchased Intel properties and the Hynix established know-how is solid state memory manufacturing. Hynix branded harddrives are fairly ubiquitous in the world (I own two, looking to get a Gen 4 version of the 1 TB I have now).

That being said, I think Solidigm will take some time to get their bearings, but I have very little doubt over their QC and offerings. I do think that their first consumer releases don't have best in class read/write speed for the price though.

You like the Fury drive? It's a speed demon, isn't it? I am probably going to pick one up this BF.

thanks. but isn't this the same drive as the Intel p41 plus with Hynix controller to make it even better?

Do they make DLC/2bit MLC SSDs for laptops/desktops anymore? Seems everything is TLC and more, but I keep reading how TLC and up are garbage
