It's amazing how you might need another couple of feet. I had to use my truck to put a ladder on the bed so I could help my mother-in-law and her siding. Needless to say, a hammer fell on my head, and a trip to the immediate care. All because of a couple of feet (true story). :/

I just clicked on the specs doc on home depots site and in normal step mode it's 300lbs PER SIDE!

So that's a alot stronger and more comforting so you can have a helper on the other side no problem!

Aluminum does rust, but it does take a long time. Here is an article about it - https://thecraftsmanblog.com/does-aluminum-rust/ I have left aluminum ladders outside during the winter with no problem. But, I haven't done it for years on end.
