I would but laser produces nano particles. Also hp cartridges have nozzles built into them.

The print head is built into the ink cartridge itself, and you can refill by buying refill kits on Amazon. You will have to drill three holes, but it seems relatively easy. Thinking about it…

Btw, Amazon delivery date is Jan. 7.

Considered this last week as a gift for a 13 year old nephew, til I realized the "single" colored ink design (eg all the colors are in one cartridge....a huge waste because if you only ran out of blue, then you still need to toss the entire ink cartridge away!). Yes, you could drill a hole and go through that trouble of refilling, but stuff like that isn't a 13 year old's forte/interest.

rtings.com has ratings based on categories. If you're ok with monochrome (non color), they've rated Brother's Laser printers as the best.

Next up, if you need mixed use including photo printing - they've they've rated epson ecotank series as best value for money.

Since the pandemic & work-from-home printers have gotten somewhat scarce & are much more expensive. I've had good luck over the years going by the reviews at sites like PCMag. The 2nd thing I do is check the price & availability of 3rd party ink cartridges -- as you can see from the much higher prices for ink tank printers, the manufacturers plan on making their money from you buying ink cartridges, not the printers. Personally the longest lasting printer we've ever had was a Brother -- the worst were an HP Laser & and HP inkjet.

With Any ink jet printer the heads WILL clog. The printers all have cleaning routines you can run, which *usually* work, but go through lots of ink. When the cartridge includes the head you can easily replace it when cleaning doesn't work -- otherwise replacing the heads is a major job & expensive, so most just scrap the printer. Including the heads does make the cartridges more expensive, though you might find 3rd party cartridges available at reduced cost. I went the refilling route for a few years -- it may work once, might even work twice, but each time you refill the cartridge will take less ink & run out sooner. The cartridges were an older version of the one's this printer uses. They're filled with foam rubber inserts. I even used to take the tops off the cartridges so I could clean the foam separately, & while that helped, long term it just wasn't viable.

Laser printers break too, toner can be expensive, refilling toner cartridges can be a PITA. The aftermarket cartridges for my Canon OHOH are Real cheap on Amazon.
