10% off on Target gc means only 5% additional % off for redcard holders.

If you have 5% additional statement credit thru Chase Freedom - PayPal route, you get effective 4.5% extra on top of this discounted gc deal making it 14.5% off, or 9.5% on top of red card discount.

Depending on how much you shop at Target annually and your personal cash flow priorities vs need to save the extra % off, you can decide whether to block money in the gc.

If you decide to get in on this deal but also have the red card, you can prioritize to use red card for smaller transactions where red card can get you free shipping. You can select to use the discounted gc for when you're doing store pick up, or 35$+ shipping orders wherein you'd not have shipping charges to deal with anyway.

Hope it helps.
Just a PSA: if you buy the gift card and load it into your target account wallet, make sure you have 2FA for your account login. I received a $300 GC as a gift and realized as soon as I loaded it in a day someone across the country used my login to buy items instore. Target didn't help when I filed a complaint basically telling me to file a police report before they could do anything. Gift cards are harder to chase down of course compared to credit card. It can happen at any store but target's payment and security sucked up until few months ago when they added 2FA.

Edit: to enable 2FA, go to target.com and into your account settings. You can find information on how to enable it here - If you go to target.com and in the account settings, you'll find an option to set email/phone 2FA. More instructions are here https://security.target.com/FAQs#...20account?
Target recently changed their system to allow you to use a partial amount of a gift card on a purchase, so there's no need to buy multiple small quantities for yourself. I pay for most of the transaction with a gift card and then just a few cents with my Red Card to still get free shipping.

Yes, Discover caps their quarterly 5% cashback on special categories to $75 ($1500 in purchases) then it downgrades to 1%.

If I'm looking to purchase a Nintendo Switch OLED, is buying a $350 Target gift card going to be the best deal of the season or do you think there's a better deal yet to come?

If you have Chase Sapphire Prefered/Reserve along with Chase freedom, you can transfer your points to a Sapphire card and get 1.25x/1.5x respectively. That is effectively 5.625%/6.75% extra. Making it slicker.

where is target 2fa, i cannot find it?
I was only able to activate this via Target.com website... I searched everywhere in the app. Either it's so buried in the app, there's no easy way to find it, or it doesn't exist there.
I didn't know 2FA was an option for my Target.com until this thread, so really appreciate y'all.

So I'm no math wiz, but if I
1. buy the GC at 10% off, and then
2. buy stuff and pay with the GC, not the redcard, so I don't get my usual 5% off ...

Didn't I only end up saving 5%, like usual with the redcard?
You are buying a PS5 for $500 at Target. You pay $475 if you use the red card. You pay $450 if you use the gift card from this deal.

Thanks OP. Check out with PayPal using Chase Freedom to get another 5% back.
How do we pay with PayPal. There's no option.
Update: never mind. Got it.
