No, you can't use other apps on the integrated tablet as it comes from Echelon. There are workarounds to get some other apps to work but it involves a little bit of effort hacking it.

Also, the "Sport" equipment from Echelon, like this bike, are their budget line and are not as good as their other equipment. Whether it's the Bike, Row, or Stride, I would be saving my pennies and looking to purchase their better equipment. For instance, Amazon has the Echelon EX-3 on sale for $519.99 [amazon.com] right now. Although it doesn't have the integrated tablet and it is more $$$, it is a much better bike. If you plan on using the Echelon app and/or want the integrated tablet the absolute best deal is the EX-4S+ from Costco when it's on sale because it comes with a year membership. EX-4S+ $799.99 [costco.com]

What is the difference between this "sport" model and other EX series?

The Sport models aren't as robust as far as build quality. They have mechanical magnetic resistance vs motor controlled magnetic resistance. This is important if you want to use 3rd party apps that can control resistance for you during a ride. The flywheel is lighter on the Sport model. The lighter flywheel makes the ride experience less smooth. In addition, even though the scale is the same as far as resistance, 1 thru 32, the Sport has less resistance when compared to the EX models. There are other small things like pedals etc. that are different and reflect that the Sport is the budget option from Echelon. Don't get me wrong, the Sport models are pretty nice bikes but the higher level of bikes from Echelon are quite a bit nicer.

Thanks, how about Schwinn IC4 resistance control?
