This laptop is the best bang for your buck in the $1100 price range. Comes equipped with push button over clocking. I leave this on turbo mode when I'm playing my games and I run everything on max settings. Gpu right in between a 3070 and 3080 performance wise plus the mobile 6800M has 12 gbs of dedicated vram . Fantastic deal I just bought a second one recently for my nephew and might buy one for my sister so they can game to their hearts content. 👻😸

This is the updated version of the model with liquid metal issues and crappy ram. That was the 5900, this is the 5980.

Bought it last month and been putting it through the ringer - runs like a champ. Can't beat it for the price.

The only issue is the wi-fi card is just plain bad. It appears to be a driver issue that hasn't been fixed yet so it's recommended to just replace the card.

there's was last year LENOVO LEGION 5 PRO with a Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX3070 for this same price that I would honestly get over this just because of the insanely good 16:10 display

while this is a monster performer it has been this price multiple times now

you hjave to be sure of what you need the l;atop for, CPU workloads, get an intel.... battery life get this
it heavily depends on the games but the 6800m is generally within the ballpark of a 3070ti

Thank you, battery life has never been a concern for me honestly since I always leave it plugged in and I would mostly use this for gaming and watching movies, and would of course be hooked up to an external monitor. Was waiting for this deal to come back, but ended up picking up the Ibuypower for 1150.

Thoughts on which one will run games better? I know they're different mediums, but desktops are generally referred more and this one seems like a beast.

Also worried about overheating and longevity.

Can't beat a desktop if overheating & longevity concerns. That's exactly what desktop builds address.

I got this last month and have been very impressed with the gaming performance. It is a little loud, but that doesn't bother me. Overall, it's a beast for the price

I spent all day playing Fortnite on this on the silent profile using the latest AMD drivers and it works well. However the table was very hot afterwards. You can see my Passmark scores on the last thread this was offered on.

I have this laptop and I like it. Well worth it for me. 2 things though... you may have to swap the ram with some better quality ram. Lots of videos on YouTube discuss it. It gave me a 10% performance boost. I took the ram from my old laptop and swapped it out so it was much trouble for me. Also, you need to use an external monitor if you want to get the most out of this gpu. It still does very well without one but it has the potential to be about 10% faster when utilized with an external monitor. People did have issues with the liquid metal on the cpu in the first batch or so but that seems to have been solved. Just don't buy open box at best buy. Buy it new.

From previous threads, this laptop generally comes with lower rank memory that limits performance. You will want to upgrade to unlock its full potential. See here: https://youtu.be/8XCeAdFqsKg

Also, this thing doesn't have an integrated webcam, and no MUX switch either. There were a few reports of driver issues that your should be aware of, nothing major though.

Overall, this is a pretty solid deal, especially if you are trying to avoid Lenovo.
