Buy couple and just sharpen them. Acme charges $20 for the service.
What is this Acme you speak of?

Acme tools. They ship them out, 2-3 weeks turn-around time. Could be a bit more now but it's still a lot cheaper than to get new blades.

Is that on Lowe's or HD?
HD. Lowes doesn't let you stack military discount on top of sale price. They are really stingy about it.

For miter saws the best advice is only buy what you need. Most homeowners can get by with a 10" non-sliding Metabo/Ryobi, etc. that go on sale for $89 or $99. 12" saws are bigger and heavier, in addition to the previously mentioned blade expense. Within a given price range sliding tends to make the saw less precise. Just use a circular saw when you have to cut larger boards. Save the money to invest a decent miter saw stand or other tools.

I don't own a miter saw but someone else on another thread said you'll go broke buying 12 inch blades fwiw
I install trim professionally and disagree with that idea. I'm able to trim about 3 homes with and 80 tooth 12" blade. The homes have around 3,000 sq feet of trimmed area. The blades can then be sharpened, but I usually don't, due to frequent sales and clearances at Lowe's, Ace, and HD. A quality blade can be had for $30 or less at least a couple times a year. That equates to about $10 per trim package on average for me.

New home owner here: what's the advantage of the sliding function?

I'm going to add baseboard trimming and make a garage tool bench, do I need sliding function?

It's really hard to find the $399 double bevel sliding saw with stand nearby. I'm thinking if I can just get this non sliding saw instead.
I was able to get $399 HD deal today on the saw with stand combo. Shipped free to my house! This was not an option all through Black Friday. Saw is coming tomorrow, stand on Monday.

I own this saw, but I thought DeWalt had discontinued it, as they now have a saw that does double bevels. I own a radial arm saw (RAS) and this saw, and I can say that 99% of the time the capacity of a non-sliding saw or RAS isn't needed and can be accomplished different ways (flip the piece and cut twice, finish the cut with a handheld saw, etc.). Also, accuracy comes from simplicity, and adding a sliding action is a 2nd degree of motion as well and decreases safety (you need to remember the proper way to cut with to avoid blade climb). If you want to put a zero clearance fence on this saw, though, the motor is mounted directly to the blade on the right, so the right fence has to be much lower than the right. (Take a look at the picture and you'll see the fence is notched on the right). Also, the right fence isn't adjustable, which would be nice when attaching a zero clearance fence to slowly slide in over time to keep a very tight clearance. Being single bevel isn't necessarily a bad thing: many times you can simply flip the piece and just cut on one side. Also, I tend to rarely use bevel cuts, so again---reducing the flexibility also limits the ways the saw can become untrue. I'm unsure how they created clearance on the double-beveled saw, but likely some sort of chain or belt to the motor to set it back, which means more to break. The simplicity of this saw is likely a reliability advantage. Even without price considerations, this saw might be the better saw for most users.

Ok, does my husband need this? He made a joke today about wanting a compound miter saw...
A huge box showed up at home and he was like "WOW! IS THAT MY COMPOUND MITER SAW FOR CHRISTMAS?"
And I thought, No, it's your fricking telescope for Christmas that was supposed to be here tomorrow when you were not home so you would not see it, but OK...
Is Christmas ruined? Yes or no?
Kidding, but now I'm mad...

Need is a strong word for this, unless he doesn't have any type of miter saw already.

That said, if he's hinting so heavily, he needs it.
