This is an awesome package. 6800h is great and the igpu is awesome. I'd totally get if I didn't recently buy a Zephyrus G14.

The website warns that going to 32gb won't allow you to pick the OLED screen, but it's not in the options anyways…

Upgrading to 32GB memory and 1TB is $842. Not bad.

those are intel cpu though, compares to the 680m on 6800H, the graphic performance is day and night, 680m is on par with GTX 1650, and the intel cpu prob ran out of battery in 3 hours, 6800h can do 10+ hours while still have a iGPU double the performance of intel iris xe

Is the deal dead? I can't add both coupons. When I try to add the second one, the first one gets deleted.

I'm not sure why this HP Aero is not getting more love:

Only slightly worse specs in my opinion, and weighs less than 2.2lbs; gets great reviews. After the mentioned discount, an edu discount, and 20% off through my Capital One credit card (not Capital One Shopping), this comes out to about $430. Without the edu discount, it's still less than $500. And with only the standard HP sale discount, it's $580.
Huge step down in many ways. 6800H is a full speed 8-core Rembrandt CPU running much faster than the Barcelo 5625 in your HP (Barcelo is a 2021 CPU, with much lower graphics). HP also has a much lower battery life (43 Wh) - that's how they get 2.2 pound weight. This is not USB-C charging - note the smart pin comment. Be careful of the folding USB-A ports - they are potential breaking points. Wifi 5 (is the Lenovo Wifi 6)? And this is only a 13.3" display. A decent keyboard is a $20 upgrade (never noticed that before).

Net is that ThinkBook is Lenovo's SMB design - this HP machine is consumer grade. Caveat emptor. I have a Lenovo machine with a 6000 CPU and it runs great (it's not this ThinkBook) - use it for work. I've found that 13" is a little small at times - so check the keyboard layout to make you don't get compromised key layout.

I agree in terms of your soldered memory comments - it is done for quality reasons (note that Apple has soldered their memory for years, and now solders their HDDs; Dell is soldering both on the XPS13). I worry about HP - they have lost a ton of market share in the last year (check out the IDC and Gartner PC market share numbers - next update in about 2 weeks).

All reasonable points. The HP can charge via USB C, however, in addition to the dedicated charging port. And the included keyboard does have the backlight in this version (if this is what you meant by a $20 upgrade for a decent keyboard).

The display is reputed to be significantly brighter on the HP than this Lenovo, and the weight sounds very appealing. Battery life and performance reported to be more than acceptable.

How does this laptop compare to the Lenovo Slim 7i [costco.com] with the following specs for approximately same price?

- Intel i7-1260P
- 16GB DDR5 4800MHz (slightly slower)
- 1TB SSD
- Iris Xe integrated graphics

Will be doing mostly office work, stock trading, photo editing, and some very light gaming (only a few older titles).

maybe not especially relevant anymore, but i had the first generation Thinkbook 13s (2019), and the battery life was significantly worse than advertised. I got this to bring to class with me. You could maybe baby it to 6 hours or so. 3 years later and it dies within minutes of taking it off the charger. Also the comment about 300 nits not being bright enough is pretty right, you really can't use it outside.

Is this the best price right now specs wise for laptops? Thinking of buying a laptop to use mainly for productivity work.

There's not a single laptop on the market that gets in the real world what the manufacturer rates for battery life - those tests are always under ideals conditions (e.g., doing nothing, 150 nits). 6 hours of real use was excellent battery life in 2019. This 14p has about 35% more battery capacity, and it has a much more efficient processor. I think 7-8 hours is realistic.

As for battery degradation, that's pretty universal, but you can mitigate it by not keeping the battery at 100% for extended periods. There's a setting for this in Lenovo Vantage, which stops charging at 60%. Unfortunately, unlike with ThinkPads, you cannot set custom charging thresholds, like 80% which I find a good compromise.

Got a Thinkbook 13s Gen 4 about a month ago for about the same price. Smaller, lighter unit but has the lower power 6800U cpu. I'll bet this 14P is a beast.

The 680M I-GPU is pretty good but from what I've seen the major bottleneck for it is the thermal limits of the laptop chassis. Should be fine for most 1080P60 gaming at lower settings. I'll set up some games on my Thinkbook 13s when I get around to it, but it will be like DX11 games from the mid '10s.

That said, this is very nearly as big as the 14" Acer Swift X that is currently on sale, with the 3050 Ti that is going to be twice as powerful as the 680M. So if you're going to run current AAA games, attach a higher refresh rate monitor or 4K TV, that's going to make a pretty big difference.

If you don't mind a bigger 5lb+ 15" laptop almost any gaming laptop around the same price will be considerably better. Or you could do a super cheap desktop build and come out way ahead.

What a fantastic deal. This is the closest configuration that I want to either a T14s, X1C G9, or X13. Getting AMD processor with 32GB RAM is perfect for both power and better battery life.

How does this compare to the NewEgg Asus deal that was posted a couple days back?
To me it seems like the Asus setup is better than this one but I dont know a ton about computers.
