Sold by a third party seller and some of their reviews say they're selling used as new.

Great deal on a great grinder! Only hesitation is if you are going to do traditional espresso (unpressurized portafilter) because the adjustment step size is pretty big which makes it difficult to dial in a good shot (basically the coffee is used as the valve that controls the flow of water so grind size becomes very important). Most entry level espresso machines use pressurized portafilter which has a separate valve so the grind size is not as critical. This machine will work fine with those. Keep in mind the new model Encore ESP should be hitting the shelves this month (MSRP $200) so I would expect to see around this $120 price point stick around for a few months as these old models are cleared out.

Awesome deal. This grinder is a great way to step up your coffee game. I've had mine for a few years now and it's been reliable. It's also great knowing that if something breaks, Baratza sells replacement parts and has instructions on how to do the repairs yourself.

Are you able to grind by the number of cups, or does it grind everything that you put in the burr?

This is a good grinder for the price, but it is _loud_. My employer had one in the office for a while and I hated even being in an adjacent room when it was in use.

Link or model ? I have a 12 year old virtuoso and need a grinder for a secondary location.

Everything you put in the hopper.

I've been weighing out my whole bean coffee before hand (for the amount of water I'm using at about an 18:1 ratio, depending on the coffee) then just grinding it all.

You could also keep the hopper full and just weigh it as you grind / then adjust your water for how much coffee you ground.

The great thing about these is that you can switch out the burr set for the virtuoso burr set. At that point they are the same grinder, but the encore is going to be plastic and louder.

You hold down the button to grind so you can stop whenever you want. It won't go through the entire hopper unless you hold it that long.

It's a good grinder with good after-sales support, but as others said, it's freakin' loud.

I retired mine in favor of a 1zpresso JX-Pro hand grinder, and never looked back.

You'll need to measure it

It looks like the steps are pretty small, like 40 steps. Maybe I misunderstood though.
