Have is and would not recommend it. The adapter for phone is really Al hard to adjust to get the image and then too it shakes a lot on touch so need to use timer to take a picture. The eye piece screws are shit and eventually gives up and I had to put duct tape to keep it in place. Better spend money on a little higher end one.
This one is barely able to hold a camera phone on its own. I doubt you can use a DSLR on it m.
Interestingly, I saw this article today about an approaching comet that last pasted this way 50,000 years ago. Should be visible in a few weeks. https://legalinsurrection.com/202...000-years/

Agree it's a shame about the 4.5" dob. I never owned one, but I know Ed Ting liked it a lot ... seemed like a nice model.
I'd probably say avoid the BL135 though.... they are considered inferior... think they are re-branded Galileos.
At $250-$310 I'd recommend the AWB or Heritage 150p, so long as someone is okay with using a solid base to put them on.
those look like winners, at that price. there are some options for good views and easy/stable operation, but they do pretty much start at the $250 range. The AWB would be a decent improvement over the 4.5" starblast and that price is right where the 4.5" SkyQuest used to sit. #ftw
I don't know why the cheezy 70/80/90mm 'department store' scopes are pushed for beginners. It's so short-sighted on the part of the marketing departments. Push the $75-$200 rickety refractors and risk making the buyer a one-and-done customer? or push the $300 dob mounted reflectors and give them something that will yield a great experience and more likely hook them for life, buying bigger and better scopes later.

Thanks for posting both of those options.
While this scope isn't that great you could do much worse. Anything less than 70MM won't be very good unless you want to view the moon or planets. Those cheap department store telescopes can be real hobby killers. I totally understand that. Would you get this telescope or those 70MM Celestron binoculars?
