Is it actually lower quality audio? Anyone had both to compare?
I thought they stopped making the thx "version" years ago. It's just a marketing term.

They really need to kill off this series after 15 years of diluting the original run with cheaper and cheaper variants that look identical.

I have an original set, and while they do sound pretty good compared to similarly priced PC speakers, they really don't work musically. The subwoofer crossover is non-adjustable at the THX standard, but without the power to keep up with the speakers if trying to fill a small room.

50% volume is about the max before they fall apart, which is more than plenty when sitting at a PC.

OK for college dorm or spare office, but you will want much better if using as reference monitors or primary speakers in a flexible space. I wouldn't waste money on this set, go get a used pair of active bookshelf speakers.

I used this Klipsch set along with an Echo Dot in the Garage for about a year before replacing it with a receiver, bookshelf speakers and sub. The Pro media set sounds pretty good for what it is but can't compare to the hundred dollar system I put together.

Razer bought out THX. THX means nothing anymore anyway.

Sounds fantastic for the price. However, there is a slight buzz/hum when connected via BT. You may or may not hear it as it's very slight but it annoyed me. Had it exchanged and the same issue existed. In the end, I just connected via a cable without using BT and it was fine. FYI, press the volume knob to switch between BT (blue light) and wired connection (white light).

I bought this when it was $50 about six months ago and I love them. I'm sure they don't win audiophile awards, but from what I've read anything under like $300 isn't gonna win audiophile awards anyway. They will absolutely kick the pants off any $50 portable Bluetooth speaker any one of your friends already owns. I'm in college so this pulls it's weight as the speakers for the projector and living room stereo. The Bluetooth could be more modern, but I have it hooked to a smart outlet (also thanks to SD) and just turn them off when not in use. I am deathly afraid that some brainiac is going to connect to it and then said brainiacs phone will auto connect forevermore, since there is no way to kick people off of it. But worst case scenario I can switch to aux mode and hardwire or get a modern Bluetooth to aux adapter if it really comes down to it. Also if you turn it off and back on really fast you can usually manually connect before the auto connect gets to it. Very much worth $65 in my eyes, especially if you don't want to work to figure out a system yourself

I picked up a few of these from a previous deal. They sound great but they do emit a low hum when the source is off. Does get annoying after awhile
Is that while plugged in with a wire? I had that happen with other speakers and, after trying every audio cable I owned, was able to fix it with a different (better?) cable.

BT only. Wired connection doesn't emit the hum.

I had a similar issue. Check the speaker wires and see if they are touching any other wires like a charging cable. The hum went away when I isolated them.

Is anyone actually finding these speakers in stock at their local Walmarts? I see zero replies confirming the availability, and 1 in 5 people who have rated the deal are unable to replicate it.

$49 delivered in July. I can't spend this one precious life hunting for these at Walmart brick and mortar lol.

The sound quality is top notch!

But, there's no way to disable the BT radio and no way to protect it. When I was using it in an apartment, someone accidentally connected to it. I end up returning the unit for this reason.
Is the new model not letting you press the volume button to disable Bluetooth?

These are not the same as the original that set that standard. That's exactly why they sell the cheap imitation.
