Also these are trail runners, and as such are not specifically made for pavement. However, in the two years since I've had this same model, I've run 2 10Ks and 3 5Ks on pavement, along with the associated training and regular exercise on neighborhood streets in these shoes, plus occasional leisure sneaker activities. I've not experienced any of the poor durability claims you make. Even after all that use, they're nowhere near ready for being replaced.

I've been running for almost 3 decades (wow I'm old). Honestly my best recommendation is to try these on before buying (if you can). There are so many factors to buying the right running shoe for the specific individual. Places like Runners World or Snails Pace will have you run on a treadmill to measure foot impact, stride length, and a ton more. How much cushion? What terrain will you run on? Best way is to try them on in a B&M...or borrow a friend's (gross).
Tl dr: Hoka is a solid brand. Get New Balance MT series. Jk 😜
The Asics shoe is quite different. The forefoot is very flexible and midsole is not as cushioned. Might not be the best option for people that like rockered shoes.
The Tecton X is the only trail shoe Hoka makes that has their supercritical midsole foam.

Have had Challengers & Stinson & Mafates (many pairs) but am super partial to the Torrents.
