Yeah. It would make more sense to upgrade from your 2600. I have a 3600 and it would be a small upgrade for me but would be a size able upgrade for you. Just be sure to update your bios to the latest.

But consider the 180$ 5700x on Amazon.

The thing to keep in mind with older boards is that it is probably a Beta bios so normal processes won't find it and install it automatically. You'll likely have to do a more manual flash process.

It might also drop support for some older processors so it's possible you won't be able to boot your system with your existing processor after upgrading if your old CPU happens to be one of the ones that get dropped from support.
It's not the most straight forward upgrade but upgrading a 1000 or 2000 series Ryzen to a 5000 series is a pretty strong upgrade for for being able to just upgrade the processor.

There are certainly better processors than the 5600 or even the 5800x 3d but they are going to be more expensive options requiring a new MB and memory along with the processor.

I upgraded this from a ryzen 2600x. I think it is worth it since you can always sell the 2600 to make up for the cost.

I've had good luck on Reddit (r/hardwareswap). That's for the US. I believe they have regional versions if you are elsewhere

Can we start seeing the 5600g sub $100 now cpu deal fairy? I am sitting on several budget builds that need to move! Usually end of Jan through early feb we get the discounted oldies, fingers crossed it's soon. Micro Center doesn't count, don't start posting it already happened.

Honestly. Only if your cpu is holding you back. Open up your task manager and see what percentage your cpu is using when playing games. If it's 80-100% then it would make sense. If it's like 50-60% it probably won't make much of a difference
