I'm mostly in m12 tools user but interested in a 7 1/4 saw. I have a ryobi 5 1/2 inch saw for $40 but it craps and doesn't cut well and might return it. But I don't have any m18 battery but a few 4ah regular ryobi battery. (and 2 9ah battery)
How is this 199 a good deal? Seems like 100 off 299 is a decent deal and not hot. Is it worth jumping to m18? I'm happy with m12 tools.
This saw uses a brushless motor, meaning 30-50% more powerful and longer battery life than the brushed counterpart. Plus this is a Milwaukee's fuel version, meaning slightly more powerful than a brushless non fuel.
To aid in power, this kit includes the m18 6.0 which is a high output battery using 21700 cells.

It's a good deal if you're getting into the M18 line since you don't already have batteries or a charger. The 6.0 goes for $60+ in the open market and the charger for $20+. So, you're paying about $120 for the saw. Buying it from HD you have their return policy, proof of purchase, etc. for the same price you'd be buying gray market.
You guys are really awesome and really helpful. Great community here. The break down in its part make this very nice deal but I think I'm going to stick with Ryobi/M12 as I would then have excuse to spend too much money on yet another battery platform.

Why Milwaukee only make the left hand version of this? The right hand one is rear handle and it's less comfortable to use than this version. The hell did their RD thinking when making this left handed only.

This blade right saw is used by both right and left handed people. They don't make saws for one or the other. Blade right or blade left, right handed or left handed, there are advantages and disadvantages either way and each person needs to choose which works best for them.
