I have a Nest Mini paired to this receiver and the speakers in this deal
https://a.co/d/abbxP98

Speakers are under an awning and are holding up well after a few months. It's survived heat, rain, cold, and snow since August so far. For the price it's good.

The Duals have a smaller 4" speaker rather than 5" and a much lower quality brand name (I've read no reviews on either).

Honestly, for most back-deck systems, you don't need much, especially if you have neighbors close by. I don't though and as I walk across my yard with my porch cranking out a movie with a Pioneer 5.1 surround sound system that is near painful on the porch, the sound dwindles quickly after 15 feet and at 100 feet or so you can't make out the words anymore. If you are on water, the sound travels like crazy... so each scenario is different.

The nice thing about the Duals is they will probably sound decent on a cheap digital amplifier from someplace like Parts-Express... with maybe a bluetooth adapter setup. So when the weather inevitably kills them, you haven't lost much. Put your electronics in an irrigation control box so it is easy to access and waterproof when closed... cheap and easy back porch tunes.

All that said, these Yamahas are tempting. I'll look into them a bit deeper.

Edit, I didn't even look at the price of the Duals. Same price. Yeah... no, for a smaller no name brand.
Dual is not a no name brand, been around for a long time and make decent outdoor and marine speakers. Used to be sold in high end stereo shops but they were a German company then, however the Korean company that owns them now still makes the same design. They are also a 3 way speaker vs the Yamaha 2 way. The Yamahas are nice too, I've had a pair for 15 years, have yellowed but sound great still.

Just because you personally haven't heard of something doesn't mean it is lower quality, especially when you say you haven't even read any reviews.

Dual was a brand carried by former electronics store chain Circuit City. I actually have a pair of Dual bookshelf speakers sitting around with my old entertainment system connected as a 2.1 speaker system setup from the early 2000's. I have to tell you they still work to this day with crisp sound - pretty incredible. I would not hesitate to pick up Dual brand speakers, but I would definitely go with the Yamaha brand for the same price. Just make sure you check out the specs to ensure they are comparable. Don't pass this Yamaha deal if you're in the market for outdoor patio speakers.
Depending when in the early 2000s you got them you either have the German or Korean ones, they went bankrupt and the brand was sold. Generally the German were found in stereo shops and Korean in the big box stores, but both are good speakers.

I wish they were BT.
It's too much work to connect these to the receiver and run the wires from inside to the outside patio.
That's like saying I wish these were a TV.

If it supports two more 8 ohm speakers, sure.

I bought this on a deal before. One speaker stopped working after 20 minutes. I've never seen that before on a passive speaker.

Obviously the worst part of hooking up any speaker is the wiring. So by the time I had it wired and put up it was after the return period. I spent over an hour debugging with various connectors and other speakers to find the root cause. I had to argue with Amazon twice for over 30 minutes to get my money back. What good is a manufacturer's warranty on a bad product?

I love saving 💰, but I do not recommend this product at all.
The best brands in the world have an occasional early failure. Yamaha would have sent you a new speaker. Mine have been outside for 15+ years and still going strong.

I was thinking about getting these for a garage setup. From what I can tell these have a non articulating mounting bracket?
Tilts up and down or side to side depending which way you mount them. I think my ones from many years ago have a threaded hole in the back for other mounts too, not positive.
