If you are buying this for the promotional game COH3, good luck. You can activate it only on the system that you installed this very CPU. If you had the plan to use the code in some other system, you won't be able to. Forcing customers to use the specific hardware to play the game they are giving for 'FREE' is super cheesy, so it isn't really FREE it's locked in with the specific hardware only.
It makes you download an amd verify tool that checks your processor, then it gives you a unique key to use to redeem a steam key and you can play that on any pc.

I would consider the 5600x over the 5600 if you have the patience to wait for the price drop later this year. The 5600x was $150 during the holidays. The 5800x3d price will drop lower than $300 with the new 7 series 3D line up announcing soon.
There's a very, almost insignificant, small performance difference between the regular 5600 vs. the x. I would say it's not worth the 15% increase in price. There will be rare instances where the X will perform up to 5% better.

The 5600g is the same price on Amazon. Depending on what you're going to do it may be a better option. It won't need a graphics card.

blackfriday didnt have a game. so if you want/like or sell the game, this is a better deal
Tbh Company of Heroes 3 is a mediocre game, at best. Don't see any real dollar proposition there.

Do you have to install the free game on the same PC you install the Ryzen CPU? I plan to put Linz on the new build. Can the game be attached to your Steam account?

Compared to the Ryzen 5500, this one has 10% better performance, but a 32% higher price.

I want to reduce processing times in Topaz Photo AI. I don't game at all.

Any value upgrading to this from the Ryzen 5 2600 on my Rog Strix X460-F Gaming motherboard? I mean, what's gonna help me most? Is it clock speed, is it cores, threads, would it be jumping to an AM5 socket, what?

The 5500, like the 5600G, is only PCIe 3.0. That may not be an issue for those on 300/400 series boards but it's something to keep in mind. I just don't want to see someone end up with a 5500 on a B550 board with an NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD and wonder where that SSD speed is at.

While that may be true in an overall look of the processor, it has been proven to be able to have a 15%-20% in FPS gain for gaming, which is very important for those building a pc for gaming. Check Tom's hardware

I double checked to make sure. It is listed on the mobo website as being supported: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards...pdesk_cpu/

*edit* - I updated the BIOS as well. Quick and easy. Should be ready to drop in the new CPU when it shows up.

It's $120 at Microcenter and you get $20 off a mobo if you're trying to do a cheap build.

I have a 2700x paired with x470 board that I know will take this 5600 with bios update. I don't game much anymore but I use my PC for work a lot more. A lot of chrome tabs along with microsoft suites like Teams, multiple excel sheets, etc. Would I gain from upgrading to 5600 given that this has two fewer cores? All the reviews seem to point that 5600 would be an upgrade from 2700x in terms of gaming but can't seem to find much about in terms of productivity. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
