Please go easy on me as it's my first deal post. I was looking at purchasing this projector. This is the cheapest I've seen by a few hundred dollars compared to everyone else. Has good reviews everywhere as well along with no mention of rainbow effects you see on most single laser projectors.

Some of them are just people who don't know how to use a ultra short throw projector. One guy said projector sucks but was projecting on a wall and not a screen. Check out the reviews on projector central and projector screen reviews
It will look fine, but the challenge is mounting it perfectly so you don't have to use keystone correction. It's difficult enough siting on a console. You need to find a ceiling mount that has precise adjustability in all three axis. You'll need to flip the ALR screen also since UST ALR screens are designed to reject light from above. Plus you need to run wires down from the ceiling which defeats one of the advantages of a UST.
TL;DR It's doable but requires a lot of work. If your room allows for it go with a short throw (non-ultra) or standard throw.
This hasn't been funny in 10 years. Time to let it die.

is there a reason you recommend the AWOL over this one? or just blindly recommending it because you have that one and haven't seen this one in person?
No I haven't tried this one. However, did some research sometime back and ust projectors were grouped into 2 groups - single laser and tri laser. And it looked like what they're saying is tri laser is better than single laser. This one is a single laser. AWOL is tri laser.

Also I know LG has a tri laser one but it was only 120 inch max and was way more expensive than AWOL. I wanted a 150 inch screen.
I watched 2 4k movies from hbomax and prime with my wireless roku ultra and noticed random black screens for less than a second that I've never seen on my tvs. I rewound and verified it was not the video
Then watched 1 movie at 1080 ( local plex movie ) using my other roku and a different 4k hdmi cable and again saw random black screens for less than 1 second. I rewound the video to verify it wasn't the local video
I'm going to contact LG Monday.
tried to chat with LG support just now ( 7:50 pm Eastern )
they replied that no one could help me with projectors right now, could I try back in 30 - 60 minutes.
:-D
haha ( not funny ) but I suppose not unreasonable being about 8:00 pm (eastern ) at night

Are these significantly better than the vava UST projectors?
Please don't buy VAVA. Once it's out of warranty, you'll never get it fixed for a reasonable price. Parts are not Vava's, locked down and you'll have to try to find them on Chinese grey markets, which is both unlikely and time consuming
Any good screen recommendations for this LG cinebeam hu715qw? My friend is suggesting the vava screen from best buy but with .6 gain, i am thinking that i might lose on the brightness.
My very first projector setup for our bedroom and I am confused between these 3 options
Lg Cinebeam (this)
Xgimi Aura which is $1599
Optima Cinemax D2 DLP which is $1999
AFAIK Aura is best value here. Provides good video and audio quality.

It's your HDMI cable.

Got it yesterday and it has the white screen of death. No way to change input or turn on/off without unplugging. Guess this was not meant to be.
