Amex is offering an all time high 90,000 MR points + $200 statement credit bonus on it's Gold card (similarly, Amex Plat has 150K MR points + 200 statement credit).
If you know someone with Amex Gold card, it's worth checking but please do so off forum. Card has a $250 annual fee. You can check other benefits from the link below.

The AF is profitable if you plan to travel anytime in the next several years (You can double dip the $200 airline credit for United future travel so $400 right there for example....If you plan to travel in the next 2 years then 200-400 more in hotel credit-- then regardless of travel another >$200 in Uber credits (you ought be able to get at least 13 months worth for one annual fee)...There's also $169 in Walmart+ credits and $378 in CLEAR credits possible with a single annual fee, and $200-400 in hotel credits.... (not gonna list the equinox one as that's super super niche).
Plus of course you get 100,000 MR points for the signup in the first place- worth $1100 as cash, plus the value of the higher cash redemption of your OTHER amex points. So pretty trivially profitable even if you use NONE of the credits, and much more profitable if you can use any of em.

the $200 airline credit is nice but it would be more appealing if it applied to the flight purchase, my bags are usually free with tickets and wifi is immaterial, so not sure what i would spend the flight credit on since its only for incidentals
the clear credit i wouldn't need because i already have tsa precheck and global entry
Walmart plus i probably wouldn't use.

The real benefit of platinum for me is lounge but it only covers 2 people so i have to take an additional card for $175 extra. I am going to probably look at chase reserve next year or hilton surpass that provides 10 lounge next year.
For example you can add cash to your United travelbank with it, and it credits. Then book cash flights with the travelbank balance.
There's similar tricks for a couple of other airlines last I checked, but NOT all of em.
.
FWIW, Clear does still provide a benefit on top of this.... if there's a line for the ID check (and I've seen decent sized ones occasionally) you get to go to the front of it.
Likewise on the rare occasions precheck isn't open, you get to skip THAT line too and go right to the ID check.
It's not useful often enough I'd pay out of pocket for it- but for free it's a nice to have that once in a while will save you a chunk of time you can then spend in a lounge instead of standing in a security line.
The plat used to have lounge value becuase it got you centurion access with 2 guests.
Now that 0 guests are included it's pretty worthless in this regard if you're not a solo traveler- the priority pass membership it offers is inferior to the chase or citi ones since it doesn't include restaurants.
But if you plan to travel AFTER this year just get an amex ED card that has no annual fee and hang on to the points for travel that way.
Also I think Amex removed the 1;1 cash redemption few years back? Like 900KPOINTS are worth 700$ not 900.
Do others who have/carry the gold card, redeem $10 grub hub and $10 uber/eats monthly like set a montyhly date in calendar?

The brokerage plat card specifically permits redeeming MR points at 1.1 cents per point.
So for someone with no intent on using them for travel (where value can be much higher than that) the best way to cash out is:
Get all the MR points you want from ALL the MR signups you can...and there's quite a few... (regular Platinum card, Biz platinum card, regular gold, business gold, Everyday, Everyday preferred, regular Green, and biz green... and then do the Schwab card and cash out the points from that signup, plus all your others, at 1.1c a point.
Obviously you don't need to do ALL of those other cards-- but it'd be how to maximize your return since you'll only get the one chance to cash them out as the Schwab card isn't worth keeping beyond the first year (or maybe 2 if you get a great retention offer)

Sorry totally new to Amex bandwagon of points, I did have 1 gold card back in Canada (familly member added me), which was cancelled 5 years ago and at that time I think AF was $120 or less.

Hey- yeah the Schwab thing I was talking about is for someone NOT interested in travel
MR can be transferred to 17 different airlines and 3 hotel chains....the hotels aren't generally worth considering (that is one place Chase has Amex beat- a useful hotel transfer partner) but lots of good airline options:

Closing a card, by itself, does not hurt your score at all.
It CAN hurt it in 2 specific ways, that won't necessarily apply to everyone
The biggest is utilization. If you only have 2 cards, each with a 5k limit, and you tend to put 2k a month of spend on there-- you will have 20% utilization on your monthly credit report.
Which is high, but not dangerously-high score wise.
If you close one card, your 2k spend is now 40% utilization and you'll take a big score hit.
But if you're a churner and have 20-30+ cards open, and hundreds of k in available credit, but still only spend a few grand a month on average, then closing any one card will have no impact at all on your score in this regard... you're already at like 1% utilization. Closing the card won't change that.
The other area is average age of credit.... but cards stay on your report even when closed for 7-10 years... so again this is unlikely to have much impact for most people unless you're just starting out building credit.
Also, how is it still profitable when there is a $695 fee?
The 150k points are worth a LOT more than $695 by themselves.
And there's $400 worth of airline credits you can use ($200 per year and it's per calendar year so you get two uses with one annual fee)
And there's $215 minimum in Uber/Ubereats credits you get with one membership fee (possibly slightly more depending when you sign up exactly).
And there's a bunch more credits some are easier than others to use
$100-150 in Saks 5th av. credits (depending exactly when you sign up)
$155/yr in Walmart+ membership credits
$189/yr CLEAR credit
$200 hotel credit (but have to book a premium hotel)
$100 global entry credit
$300/yr Equinox credit
But anyway it shouldn't be hard to get well north of 2k in value for your $695-- potentially more like 5-10k if you use the points for some premium airfare redemptions and can leverage most of the credits.
For most it won't be worth keeping the card after that (maybe 1 more year if you get a good retention offer)-- versus the gold where year over year is a little easier to justify-- but the signup is wildly profitable quite easily on both.
100 points is like $6.5.
