My $15 5GB plan actual cost $19.xx because of tax, so $180 value wont cover full year.

However, you can change the plan to 12 month 5GB for $17x.xx that should take effect next billing cycle. That way, you will get 13 month of 5GB + iphone 12 for $250 + $15 + $100 + tax = $365 + tax.
This is not verified because I'm still at my first billing cycle. Finger crossed that this would sail smoothly at my next billing cycle.
Thank me later.
The cost will be
$200 (phone) + $15 (plan) + $100 + tax = $315 + tax
Of course, just 1GB/Mo

There is a bare-bones Ting plan that is $10/mo that supposedly works with this. Is that the trick?

Not sure if he mean he just put the sim from this plan to the new iPhone and get it unlocked around 1 month. I am curious did he ever put the sim coming with the iPhone in the iPhone or
any other phones before that.

The people who are having trouble are on android because those aren't automatic and you have to manually request a code. Whereas iPhones are based on Apples servers

I think when I got my iPhone 12, it shows it's locked to Sprint, then some days later, it changed to Dish. While I don't know why.

Update: just checked again and it shows DISH Boost Locked Policy. Last time it was Sprint MVNO Locked policy. Seems either Apple or Boost updated its database to its newest Locked policy.
But still with Dish Boost Locked policy my iPhone 12 doesn't support Ting SIM card. Wondering how other member reported Ting activation and usage would count for Boost unlocking. Probably Android phones have different restrictions that are not as strict to iPhones.
