Come on. Do not add pre-conditions to earn more. We are talking about no pre-conditions to earn 2% cash back on everything purchase and you just can't find the card to earn more. If you like conditions such as annual fee, member to open a bank account etc, that is a different thing. People may not like those conditions.

Rejected for me, screw Wells Fargo and I have credit score of 804

What was the reason given for the rejection? They rejected me the first time "too many cards already" but accepted me on the second try even though I hadn't eliminated any cards...

I applied today and no reason given. It said I would get a letter in 30 days with a reason.

I have Old bad credit (charge offs etc) from decades ago.
But want to use a credit card to pay off a delinquent utility bill to rebuild my credit.
Would this card be good? Or too hard to get?
Or any suggestions from anyone?

If you can be disciplined to pay off the utility charge in 12 months and that is more than $500, then yes. The card gives you interest free 12 months. This is not a balance transfer so there's no fee. Just pay off the charge in 12 months or less, possibly by using the bonus cash, then you will come out ahead. But the first 5 words of my post is the most important thing. If that's not you, don't even try to get a credit card.

People with high credit score being rejected… There is a reason, although they won't come right out and say it. If you're responsible enough to have a great credit score and apply for this card, they know you're doing it for the sign up bonus. And after getting it, you'll put it away and not use it at all. At that point, they lost money on this deal. They want people to use it often for the swipe fee. They want people to carry a balance so they can charge the interest. They don't want people to default so they won't give it to people with a bad credit, but they'll reject people with too high a credit too because they're the ones who will cost them money. Credit card with a high annual fee don't care as much, because use it not, they'll get the annual fee and their benefits are structured for you to spend money to get money/benefits. But a no annual fee card like this, if you don't use it a lot or carry a balance, it's a money loser for them.

So if you have a great credit and got rejected, congratulations. You're on top of the credit card game and they know your are.

I wonder if that's all of it. My credit score has been well over 800 for years and in fact it really only fluctuates at all because I keep getting credit cards. I was denied with the reason being that I had too many cards already. That would support your theory but then I got another card from US Bank and afterwards applied for this WF card again and this time they gave it to me in spite of having one more card than I did the first time I applied.

I didn't go for this card for the small bonus, but rather for the 2% no annual fee. I intended to make it my daily driver and that's what I've done. Hopefully they'll recognize that I've been spending plenty on this card because they just sent me another offer for a business card with 2% and no AF that comes with a $500 bonus. I'll apply for that one too but first I need to meet the spend requirement for the new Chase card (#6) that I just got yesterday...

I miscounted bonus total (included $400 from a checking bonus):
Amex Plat $600
Amex Biz Plat $1200
Citi Premier $800
Capital One Venture $750
Capital One Venture X $750
Chase Business Cash $900
US Bank Altitude $500
I'm gonna be spending around $3000 on airfare later this year. Any recommendations on which of these cards would be the best to churn? I'm eligible for a business card, just haven't made the jump yet.

There are only so many that will give you anything on a $3k spend but if you think you'll spend $6k in 90 days, there are multiple options. I just got a Chase Business Ink that will give you $750 and has no annual fee and I had just gotten a US Bank card as well with the same $750/no AF offer.

Just make sure there's no fee and I personally avoid AMEX cards because my insurance co's won't accept them so it's harder to hit the bonus spend requirement. There are a lot of ways to make up that $6k spend amount since you'll already be halfway there. If you can use a referral link to Chase or US Bank, let me know.

Looks like a solid "anything else" card when a purchase doesn't meet the usual restaurant / travel / lodging / groceries categories that give you back 3-5% on more specific cards. I already have a bunch of cards that fill all those rolls, and my Citi Mastercard already gives me 2% on everything, otherwise I'd be all over it for the bonus.

$500 is an awfully low threshold for $200 back. I'm not sure I want to open yet another card just for $200, but if you need a 2% anything card and don't already have one, this is the one to beat.

Any chance you have a credit freeze on that you need to lift before applying for a new card? I've forgotten to do this before, and got this kind of response.

If you have a high credit rating I don't know what the limit is but it's pretty high. I have 2 Capitol One cards, at least 5 Chase cards, 2 Citi cards, 1 Wells Fargo, 1 US Bank card, and 1 American Express. That's what I can remember off hand at least and those are only the currently active cards. There have been many more over the years.

I've gotten some kind of bonus on every one and I've never paid any interest though I have paid annual fees on some of them. I have a business and have no problem generally meeting the minimum spend requirements and I'm also not worried about dings to my credit rating as it's been well over 800 for years. Those are two factors you might consider if they apply to your situation.

Just signed up for one...man im not even sure if the extra 0.5% i am getting on cash back is worth using their horrible app from the 1990s. Seriously Wells fargo banking app (and website) is just HOT GARBAGE.

I've been using the Wells Fargo website and app for years without much problem. There's a couple of things I might suggest as improvements but overall it's pretty smooth. I don't find it really to be any better or worse than the other banks I deal with
