Good points but I believe it's a good deal. I just changed the router that I used for the last eight years. The new one cost me four times the one replaced. At the time, eight years ago, I bought a switch that I just replaced with the one in this thread, I paid the same price for both. So yes, it's a steal.

This right here. Not worth the expense to buy a new 2.5GB capable router for a difference 0.3 over the gigabit speed of your current equipment. I've been looking at the 2.5GB network switches - expensive!!!! $100 for a 5 port. Cheapest Mikrotik 5 port 10GB switch is $150, for 4 times the speed of 2.5gb.

Even if you are streaming multiple 4K streams you are more likely to hit a speed limit from the side of the content provider first. In 2-3 years, if 2.5GB becomes mainstream and cheap, sure go ahead and upgrade. Right now it's a big spend for little benefit.

Yeah, I mean ... it is what it is. Not faulting this specific deal, which is a good price by comparison. Just annoyed that network gear prices have artificially stagnated for nearly 20 years.

Routers have at least added new features (mostly updates for WiFi).

Eero pro 6E supports 2.5gb connection from modem. Then you plug pc into main eero from there

You would miss out on wired backhaul to main base if you did this but wireless backhaul has been fine, no slowdowns noticed
