Pro tip: the one I got from Amazon last month already had the latest firmware installed. If you are putting it in PS5 and you are seeing more than 6,000 MB/sec in the speed test you are good, you got latest FW. If you are seeing less than 6,000, you need to update, which can be done with an external Thunderbolt enclosure (not USB-C, there is a difference) if you don't have a desktop PC or laptop with empty NVME slot.
Also don't forget to get a heat sink when installing it in PS5.

So, I'll need to use Macrium, just like with every other drive. After a dozen or so Samsung drives I'm done with them.
Edit: not really sure why the downvotes. Many people buy these expecting to use their very simple cloning software. I have used it on previous Samsung drives with external enclosures and had no issue. Now, for some reason, two different enclosures are not working; the drive does not show up in Magician.
So, for those of us who can use another free cloning software, choosing Samsung over another drive may not always make sense. For those who buy this expecting to easily transfer the data, not so much. I personally liked the Magician experience in the past, and it not being available gives me zero reason to choose a Samsung drive.
Other than that the 980 Pro has been working fine for the last year that I've had it.
And here we have a prime example of a Grade-A D-Bag providing no meaningful contribution all while flaunting their d-baggery. 980 is perfectly fine for most folks who are looking for something at this price point. As someone else stated, please give us your time machine so we too can get the deal on the almighty 990.
Other than that the 980 Pro has been working fine for the last year that I've had it.
That's good to hear, thank you. I've only used Macrium once. I got a deal on an Evo 950 way back when and was really impressed with how easy it was to transfer everything over and get it setup. THAT has been the draw for me when the price difference was close for the other Samsung drives I have. We'll, except for the SD black I got for the PS.
