Judging from today's woot deal for 990 pro [woot.com], I believe ~$120 price point is reachable in the near future.

If the demand goes down, we can definitely see a lower price in the future.
• Only buy when you must need it.

What goes up must come down.

did it used to be a lower price than 151? what is the range? i dont know much about this stuff but i want a 2TB m.2 ssd so should i just monitor this model for a price drop (or are there like 2 or 3 modles i should be searching for)?

i heard something in the news a while back about how prices would go up, has that been cancelled? are we at the peak or the beginning of the price rise?

2023 - Lowest
990 Pro 2TB – $100-$120
990 Pro 4TB – $180-$200

Price did go up.

2024 - Current
990 Pro 2TB – $150-$180
990 Pro 4TB – $320

If demand continues to subside, price may go down lower.

Note: We are in tax season so the sales may have temporarily slowed down. After that, the price may hold or even rise until later this year. We may not see great deals until the end of the year. I hope I am wrong. Better to have the bad news now than later.

I just saw some at my local store. Sale good through 6th April if your store still has stock.

It's *really* nice compared to what I upgraded from. 7,000MB/s reads and writes blows my mind - my first HDD was a 50MB SCSI that could barely manage 5.

Have 2 of these for my game drives in my PC. One with and without a heatsink for $99.99 at BB last summer. Glad I jumped on it then. Haven't had any issues and game load times are under 40s.

$150 seems relatively fair in the current inflated market although I still think even that is overpriced for the 980 Pro which is the older model and likely manufactured before the market manipulation, making it price gouging imho. Staples probably bought these at Fall 2023 prices but are selling them for Spring 2024 prices. Genuinely curious if this reflects upstream pricing or if it's just blatantly anti-consumer behavior.

In any case, I'd absolutely not pay $200+ for 2TB and the older model and no heatsink. The original price is laughable, even for 2024.

I mean, this is a decent current price but I hesitate to call it a deal.
