Funny I never verified anything I just press the edu button and it gives me a discount. Every time. Done it for multiple purchases in multiple accounts in the last year

I have a weird feeling that many know about this but nobody says because they are worried it'll get patched or something

If you copy a 1GB file, 990 will probably be 1s faster, yeah that is it

Looks like it requires membership to their offers program (like military, corporate, or edu discounts)

No, you will want the one with a heatsink. I have exactly that, the 980 pro w/ heatsink and it is working great.

Is 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 4TB for $242.99 a decent deal? Or should wait for better deal next week?

Thanks! I am looking to build a new general purpose PC, is this sufficient for that? Should I consider a heatsink?

Any heatsink recommendations for this going into a motherboard? Or are they all pretty much the same?

A lot of motherboards already come with a plate over the M.2 slot that serves as a heatsink. If you have one of those, you don't need a heatsink for this.
