I received my 6a from Metro and can confirm that it won't work with TMobile sim out of the box. I've tested with my T-Mobile sim card and couldn't get services.

I would eat the additional net $10 to avoid all that crap and get a new number. No AF, $20 cheaper plan. Authorized dealers are 90% scammers.

So I have both A54 and S21FE. I just played with both more today and must say, if not considering battery, s21FE is just better in almost every aspect. Thinner bazels, more responsive fingerprint sensor, better/juicer colors and viewing angles, better camera, mega super-duper stereo speakers (A54 also has good ones but s21 has better ones). I had Pixel7 and honestly, I hated the screen. Had terrible headaches just from staring at P7, so I assume with P6a it would be the same (if not worse). Therefore, if you have extra $50 and want some decent camera and overall smooth experience go with s21fe, but if battery really meters go with a54. However, if you just want the cheapest option and like making photos, go with P6a. Just my 2 cents

no worries.
but not sure a54 has that many less bands than 6a.
apart from this [CDMA: BC0, BC1, BC10;]
i do agree that the GP phones in general are usually universal for most carries
ultimately as long as the a54 works for TM (& works well) . im not too worried

a54 has
5G: n25, n41, n66, n71;
LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 20, 25, 26, 38, 39, 40, 41, 46, 48, 66, 71

6a has
5G: n25, n66, n71, n77
CDMA: BC0, BC1, BC10;
LTE Roaming: 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 48;
LTE: 66, 71;

Hm, my mistake. You're right. The bands are not all T Mobile.

But I still find that to be unlikely. My guess is that the SKUs are the same so the compatibility should be the same. Nothing else on the Pixel is locked down (no bloatware and metro skins), so my guess is google also wouldn't let them lock down band compatibility. I guess we'll find out in 180 days.

In any case, you know for sure that A54 has very few bands but with Pixel 6a, there is a good chance that it will have very high band compatibility after unlocking

...But you're right, it's not a guarantee, unless someone else on this forum can confirm they bought a Pixel 6a in the past from Metro, unlocked it, inserted an international SIM/eSIM, and was able to get 5G speeds overseas
relatively new at metro i think.
less than 6m
has not had a chance to be unlocked yet

https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/..._5g_bands/

It looks like someone else has this exact same question for T-Mobile's Pixel 6a. It looks like Metro just copy-pasted the band listings from T-Mobile's 6a website. The reddit discussion seems to feel that T-Mobile is wrong and Google's official specs are right, which is how I feel too.

For 4G, I agree, the difference is not significant. But for 5G band compatibility, the difference is very significant and experience will be much better with 6a, especially for traveling, if Google's specs are the correct ones.

to me it appears that was more about the n41 missing rather than the others

Seriously I was in the store for more than an hour, and everyone who walked in is like a senior or non-English speaking immigrant or something, people who don't know wtf is going on and easy targets for scams since they don't know anything and don't ask questions. I'm there explaining the terms of the promo to them and the manager's like "I don't want to sell this to you". Jerk offs.
Yes, that is true!
prepaid service is generally for people has no or bad credit history, the market is target for the new comers or non-English speakers . I went to Metro or Boost store, most of them are Spanish speaker from store sales to the customers

NumberBarn has been my go to for years to grab a number and immediately port it out for deals. They port as a wireline number so I've never had any issues getting promos like these. Also can find some pretty funny or customs numbers if you want. I've used it at least 15 times to port numbers into AT&T and Verizon. Also, at least with AT&T, if you're adding a line with a new number and have a deposit you can often just redo it but port a number in instead and it gets rid of that deposit. Porting in a number adds points to their "scoring" method when determining deposits. Which is where number barn has been awesome over the years lol
How much does it cost to port out a number from Numberbarn? Have you used Numberbarn to port in MetroPCS ? Thanks

$5 for a random (not custom) number for your local area. https://www.numberbarn.com/purchase-and-port

Those are just T-mobile's 5G bands. Once unlocked, the Metro Pixel should support all bands listed in my previous post because the SKU is the same. Google only made 2 different SKUs for USA - Verizon is GB62Z, and all other carriers are GX7AS.

Also, looking at the back of the Metro pixel 6a box shows GX7AS. Google's official website shows band support for the bands I listed

Will this metro pixel 6a work on verizon after unlock? it seems verizon has their own model gb62z, so my assumption is no?

Most of the bands are compatible and the IMEI is compatible according to OKAYSD. It just won't get mmwave (Verizon uses 260, 261 for 5G mmwave). It will get all of Verizon's sub6 bands. If you want/need mmwave, then the GX7AS isn't the right one for you.

I ported out several Metro phones just before the month was up, and the phone still unlocked 180 days after activation.
I recommend not waiting till after the month.
