I'm Hanzelnuts, I was mentioned in the Wiki. You guys are lucky because Spectrum is excepting a lot of older phones as trade in for this promotion. A Note 4 is now worth $35 + $600. That's crazy.

I did this promotion 2 months ago. Traded in my Note 9 for $27 and Iphone 8 plus for $12. Note 9 was the oldest they will take back then and so was the iPhone 8. I had a Note 4 that didn't qualify. I had to buy the IPhone 8 for $90 to do the trade in.

I went in the store and paid in full for S23 Ultra and S23. Contrary to FatGuyPoolShark, I like many people, had to send in our trade-in to Assurant. You'll be lucky if the store accept your trade in. It has to be sent in.

Anyways, I have Spectrum internet. There was a promotion of buy one unlimited line for $29.99 and you'll get one line free. For those that didn't get this promotion in their email, ASK THE REP at the store if you can get that promo. Chances are, they'll say yes.

I was able to unlock my 2 phones within one week. I called and asked if they could unlock them and the agent unlocked them while I was on the phone with her. You might want to say you're traveling and needed them unlock.

Assurance emailed me and says my phones were accepted as trade-ins. But instead of $27 for my Note 9, they only going to pay me $15 reason being it was late. It wasn't late, as they received it within the 30 days required to mail in.

I have a credit of $1227 with Spectrum right now. I'm too busy to call and ask them to credit them back to my credit card. It shouldn't be a problem though.

Feel free to ask any questions if need to.

Haven't read many previous comments, but FYI
Samsung phone's price at Spectrum is $100 higher than Amazon or internet, bloated cost of base price
Example: S23 on Amazon is $699, but Spectrum at $799
Although there is hardly any competitor offering trade-in at the moment as such, but.

Blah blah. They can charge $100 more all they want when I can trade in crappy phones and make money off them?

Hmmm. You're still out the $200 plus tax you paid for the iPhone to get the s23, so not a MM?

just a cheaper s23 unless you plan to milk the cycle twice (s23 for another s23) on the same line to break even-ish

Assuming you don't have a trade-in or ran out of trade-in LMAO, I'm thinking the Boost Mobile iPhone 12 to S23 would be cheaper overall, unless you can find an used S23 for under $400. The tracfone A03S is about the same, depending on if you get a referral bonus for Boost.

Am I correct in that I can trade in a super old phone (note 4), get a $600 credit along with a new number/service, have them activate, pay $600 to pay off the phone, unlock the phone and then just put in a sim from my existing provider and I'm good to go?

If so, I might have to do this for half off.

It should work as long as your existing provider isn't Verizon. If it is, after unlocking your S23 you'll probably also have to cancel the Spectrum Mobile service then wait some number of hours or days for it to drop out of Verizon's system before Verizon will let you use the S23's physical SIM slot's IMEI on their network with some other Verizon SIM card.
I found that out the hard way.

S23 OOS at my local spectrum store, so I drove 1 hour to the nearest stores. No stores have phone numbers to check in advance, unless you get a nice rep at one store to message them for you. The store I drove to had it in stock, but apparently hasn't been able to sell any phones for weeks now, due to their ID verification system being down. Same story at the other two Spectrum stores near that one, in Worcester MA. Supposedly, my local store is getting more on the 30th, and I have an appt booked then, so fingers crossed, but wow. Spectrum really hates their customers.

Question- If I buy the AT&T Moto G Pure, 32GB from walmart for $30, due I have to activate it on att in order for the trade in to work in store?

No, they don't check if phone is activated or locked. All they need is phone that can be turned on.

Yep 3 stores for me. But worth it not to have to ship a trade-in.
