Does Direct Tools typically have sales to compete?

This week, Home Depot announced their worst quarterly earnings in 20 years. Over the past two months shoppers have noticed marked price declines on a variety of products from outdoor BBQ grills to portable air conditioners.
Was going to happen sometime…the covid boom for home remodeling ending and crazy high lumber dropping in price killed their revenue forecasts (which were simply pipedreams thinking it would keep going at covid levels.)

Not sure what it means in tool world. Good or bad?
It means that DeWalt is using the best case scenario, while Ryobi is using the average. According to most reviewers, 18V and 20V batteries are pretty much the same.

Full Ryobi user here. Own 40+ different tools and 7 batteries for the past 6 years. Remodeled two homes with them and work on the truck with impact. Still function as new and have been dropped many times. One 2ah battery failed and they replaced with a 4ah under warranty because at the time 2ah were back ordered. Excited to look for stuff I don't have yet Wink

Dewalt you get 2 extra volts
I only want 16.5V, so I'm already getting 1.5V to save. Can I return the extra 1.5V for a leaf blower or something?

This is not exactly correct, as this based on some incorrectly worded Twitter hot take. But who cares.

FYI these are not the high performance battery line which has been on sale posted on slickdeals for like $79. So they pretty much factored in the price of some of these cheap tools with this. You're maybe saving $10 or less.
1. We don't know for sure yet.

2. Two-pack is regular. Three-pack is HP.

18v BRANDED tools (Ryobi) are 20v when measured WITHOUT LOAD.

20v BRANDED tools (Dewalt) are 18v when measured WITH LOAD.

The BATTERIES are THE SAME (voltage wise) only the BRANDING is different (some manufacturers might also use different cells [Sanyo vs Samsung] which will only affect things only battery gurus measure, unless you buy knockoffs on Ebay, then those batteries often don't have the mah they claim to).

However, there may be some slight differences in the TOOLS, because some manufacturers have 18v BRANDING in North America and 20v BRANDING in SA/Af/Europe/Asia...tools are still basically the same, with very minor variations, often found even with tools of the same branding (like 6800 rpm vs 7000 rpm, etc).

Anyone have thoughts and feeling on that stick vac? I need something to replace my handheld rechargeable vac that has a dead cell causing only 30 seconds runtime. I like that my current vac has a charging base and I can just plop it down and it charges. Doesn't seem like this one does any built-in charging.

I have the older stick vac, and it did have a charging "hanger" that mounted to the wall. It was great, and vacuum worked pretty well. I would hope the new version would upgrade all the features.

Edit: Reviews say the wall mount is terrible and it doesn't charge through the wall mount. That would make it not worth $200 for tool only for me.

Look at direct tools outlet for ryobi refurbished from the factory.
