Some may purchase for the deeper blacks as opposed to a more costly OLED. Not everyone is withering away at gaming.

An ultra wide would mean just cutting off the top to fit a certain aspect ratio, so you want less screen

Great deal, but please don't bother spending the money on these unless you have an RTX4090. Get a high quality, super fast QHD screen instead

I peg Doom Eternal at 4k 120FPS with a 3090, so not just a 4090 will do it.

I have doom 2016 running at 4K120 on ultra settings on a 1080 GPU on my 48" Gigabyte Aorus OLED. Agree with you, Not every game requires a 4090, and for just office work, older GPUs can run desktop at these high resolutions and frame rates as well

Any examples or suggestions of one? I have a Dell 27" gaming monitor I want to upgrade and I've been contemplating a larger standard or ultra wide monitor. I have no idea which to get.

Yeah seriously I messaged them about it probably chatted with someone in the Philippines as usual. I got no where after 2 hours and even told them in a first responder military veteran if they could make an exception. The difference is pretty big.

I have this monitor.

Pros:
4k
Price
Full-featured smart TV
Customizable options
Great productivity with so much real estate - eliminates the need for multiple monitors

Cons:
Micro-Led - this could be a pro if you are concerned about OLED burn-in
The software doesn't always automatically switch over for PC.
Not as bright as I would prefer.
Not curved
Really large - it took a while to get used to it

I would buy this again. Value to price is more than worth it - especially if you can't justify spending $1500 on a screen.

Depends on your budget. The new QD-OLED 1440p ultra-wide monitors are pretty much as good as it gets for gaming, but they're pricey. I recently got one. I'd always heard "once you go ultra-wide, you never go back," and "once you go OLED, you never go back." This is my first of either, and it's incredible. Games I thought were decent looking are now jaw-droppingly beautiful. It's really hard to do it justice until you experience it in person. I still get high frame-rates on my 3080, as well, which I don't get on my 4k TV. I also upgraded from a 27" Dell 1440p monitor (2721DGF). The Dell was a great monitor for the price I paid for it on sale, but it doesn't have real HDR (I kept it off because it looked better without it). Aside from the incredible upgrade to HDR, the ultra-wide aspect ratio is more immersive. My Alienware QD-OLED is the same size vertically as my old 27". It's quite a bit wider, but curved, so it doesn't really take up much more space on my desk (unlike the super-ultra-wide monitors like the Samsung G9 series). There are cheaper options, but most of them are VA panels, and I considered them a downgrade from my Dell IPS (smearing is really distracting for me. It may not bother you as much). My best advice would be to go to a Best Buy or Microcenter and experience a bunch of options in person to see what you like.
I bought my Alienware AW3423DWF because I was able to get a refurbished one from Dell Outlet's site for $650 after coupon (normally $1,100), but they only come with a 90 day warranty, so there's a bit of risk. New ones come with a 3 year warranty that includes burn-in protection.

VA Panel type. Could you add into specs?
