The Ryzen GPU version with the 6800s is amazing because it lets you plug in USB-C PD and game on that with the onboard GPU and it will figure out how to distribute what power is available.

Wonderful for long plane rides, RVs, etc where PD is 100w or less and anything more than 150w will trip a fuse.

I imagine this with the Nvidia can't have that sort of flexible power usage.
I wonder if the 2022 6700s or 6800s version will go back on sale and if so, when. It seems like those are better value than this 2023 rtx4060 model.

Isn't RTX 4060 basically the same as 3060? Better off getting the 3060 model for $800, as per a past deal.
What? laptop 4060 is on par with previous laptop 3070, slightly behind 3070 ti.

It's completely dependent on the wattage of the gpu. The g14 4060 is a low wattage (65w) version which is nowhere near a 150w 3070. You can't compare the type of gpu without comparing which wattage they use.

I'd say it's better to spend more and get the Asus Zenbook 14 Pro (ux6404) with an Oled screen and 80w 4060.

Yeah but at this OP price, when you say "better to spend more", you're talking at least $500! I can't find the model you're talking about for less than $1,899.

That's fair.
Legion 5 Pro with 7745HX and 4060 (140w) was on sale for $1200 before, better than this.

Did a bunch of testing with the RTX 30xx gen versions last year. Ended up keeping the 15" version and have been very happy with it. Testing a new Alienware 15" now...but very interested in the Asus laptops. They do get warm while gaming but I am a big fan for sure!

The 4060 in the 2023 G14 draws 100W, up to 120W with dynamic boost. Don't know where you're getting 65W.

Yeah, and the 40 series do not benefit much from higher wattages, which is why Razer's marketing that they have 140 watt variants is stupid. It just wastes energy without better performance. IIRC, max performance is 105 watts or so. Beyond that, no better performance.

I would disagree. I ran my 4060 both with and without dynamic boost and there was a pretty significant difference (I want to say ~15-20%, but I don't recall the exact numbers - I was using time spy to benchmark) between running at 100 vs. 125 watts.

Asus has a different laptop running the 4060 with 140 watts. I'm waiting to see if anyone tries running that vbios on their G14. I know folks with the 4080 have done something similar with noticeable improvements.

Just sharing my brief impressions after purchasing the G14 last night:
- Silent battery/fan mode is in fact very quiet but performed great with COD Warzone 2.0 and Street Fighter 6, both with 120+ fps and high settings + native resolution
- After gaming awhile, the laptop seemed to move into Performance battery/fan mode, which is definitely louder and makes me a little nervous about being obnoxious around other family members when gaming on the couch. However, it's not terribly loud. I can wear open back headphones and not be distracted by the fans.
- Turbo mode is full blown gamer laptop noise. I'd rather scale back graphics settings than use this.
- Speakers are capable of playing loud.
- Screen has blacklight bleed at bottom corners. Only noticable in full black scenes, but it's frustrating to see as my prior laptop has zero bleed. If I need a push to return it because "should I really not blow $1600 (tax) on a gaming device when I already own a capable desktop"... this would be the reason.
- I think this doesn't have an extra M.2 NVMe slot... But I need to open it up to confirm.

Would you mind sharing a couple gaming fps comparisons/benchmarks for running on barrel charger vs running on battery only?

Oh wow you're right. It was a Best Buy customer review I read. Stupid me to trust such a review…

100w is solid. If only they did an oled screen this would be perfection but battery life would suffer more.

Can you comment on the battery life?

I generally keep it plugged in, though I did play Street Fighter 6 on the battery. It lasted over an hour and then needed to be charged.

Oh btw I'm keeping this G14 laptop. It plays Halo Infinite multiplayer at a locked 82fps on high settings and native resolution, stays whisper quiet more often than not, and I really enjoy having a laptop I can move around w/ one hand... eh there's a dumb joke there. Anyway, it's pretty great. The screen QC could be better by not having any blacklight bleed, but it's minimal enough I don't notice it unless I'm looking for it, generally speaking.

I've been hearing a lot of complaints about ASUS laptops lately. Anyone know the full story?

This laptop is the right size and weight I'm looking for. I'm not keen on the white color, but my wife would love it.

My first Asus laptop had a crackling sound everytime I opened the lid. Do not know if it is bad QC or just bad luck. Returned it
