This is my first Asus gaming laptop. My previous was an HP (1650), Dell G7 (1060) and Lenovo Y50 (860M). Armory crate was removed right away and replaced with ghelper. I disabled most of the asus bloatware and much of the w11 crap. You have to update the drivers.. the stock amd ones were buggy.

I don't have any of those issues. Every product has lemons. Look up iPhone with dead face ID, lines on screen and green screen.

Seen a few of these Asus on sale, but this one has 500 nits unlike last deal I saw. Great price. Usually hardware at this price is accompanied with terrible 300 nits 1080p monitors. Not this time!

Fantastic timing. Went on a business trip to Australia last weekend and my 2018 Dell XPS was shot (looks like some hardware issues surrounding the iGPU). Was a real PITA. Been laptop shopping all week on here, but this looks like the clear winner. Picked up an "Excellent" open-box with free overnight shipping for $900.

Worst laptop I've ever purchased. Loud, overheating always a problem. Replaced both fans 2x. Too bad, I really liked some of ASUS previous products.

Asus often puts well powerful components in too small packages, leading to heating when playing intensive games

This is the perfect spec for a machine like this, but looks like the rate of duds are pretty high. I'd chance it though, I've had generally good experiences with Best Buy returns

Have owned around 7 gaming laptops since 2008 (MSI, Gateway, ASUS, Acer, Dell). This has the highest build quality of all of them and it isn't all that close.

GHelper is simpler version of Throttlestop + Afterburner joined together in a way lighter and more user friendly package and it works beautifully on this laptop. I run under 80 degrees, 100W, and with better performance than stock.

Yes, the fans spin. If you want to sacrifice all the rest above for 25% quieter fans, be my guest. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat (purchased open box for $850 pre tax).

I currently have this one and the f15. F15 runs great as smooth. Just made of cheaper material and the trackpad is annoying.

I like the quality of the g14. But it does running crazy hot out of box. I finally download ghelper and had it turn of all asus services and it helped. Any other running recs?

Also, noticed my nvidia gpu is only recognized by the righ side usbc. Think the left side might be the thubderport???

The left USB port is the USB4. I connect to it through my work HP dock and it drives two QHD 155hz monitors. It is the one you should use and I recommend running in optimized mode to allow it to run iGPU for 2D and dGPU for 3D.

As far as GHelper settings, most people say they can get -12 offset on CPU undervolt, I still got rare crashes anywhere more than -9. I limited the CPU boost wattage to 22, 22, and 125 from top to bottom. On GPU, I set a +150 offset and limited clock at 2600MHz (this is the limit in the stock voltage curve). This has been stable for me.

Best buy seems to have bumped their open box prices up. Last time this was posted OB excellent was sub $900 and OB good was $850. Must be a lot of mint returns from the holidays.
