Was $1199 about 2 weeks ago — will probably hit that point again on BF.

At that price point, it really should have 32GB memory and 1TB SSD.

I'm bummed that this only has one NVMe slot. 512GB absolutely will not cut it for a gaming laptop.

Good thing you can replace it.

I know that it costs more, but I usually change all my storage anyways. It's so easy nowadays.

Or you can even use an external nvme or a Samsung T7, etc… Very easy.

Just an FYI, the internal storage is limited to 1 TB.

1TB is not enough for storage. Why there is a limitation on internal storage? Is it chipset or firmware?

I don't know. I had previously purchased this from Best Buy, for store pick up. Then when I went to pick it up I was going to buy a 2 TB drive and the rep told me about the limitation, but he didn't know the reason why.

I bought this laptop 2 weeks ago when it was $1199. First thing i did was install a 2TB SSD, Samsung 990 Pro. BIOS detects it and it runs perfectly fine. Ran a CrystalDiskMark test and these are the results. https://imgur.com/a/71f3Huc

As for the laptop itself, lightweight, bright and vibrant display, great keyboard feeling.

Don't bother installing the ASUS software, i installed G-Helper instead and it's much more lightweight and has better options. You can set the silent profile to limit the CPU to 15W and run the GPU in eco mode and the laptop can last at least 10 hours on normal web browsing. For gaming you can set it to 35-50W, ASUS default is 80W. I still need to do testing on this to see the most efficient power limit.

Also this laptop uses a soldered 16GB DDR5, there is an empty ram slot so you can add another 16GB for 32GB RAM.

I got in on this exact deal when it was $1199 a few weeks ago. I would recommend thoroughly testing your unit even though it's brand new. My first unit had a really annoying double click issue with spacebar and also the edges of the spacebar didn't register the key, which resulted in very annoying typing behavior where you may get double spaces after typing a particular word or you may not get a space at all if you hit the edge of the spacebar rather than the middle. At first I thought it was due to poor design since there's only one contact for the spacebar in the middle of the spacebar, but after exchanging the unit, my new unit has no issues with double click or edges of the keys not registering.. so definitely check because the QC on these laptops are terrible. If you get a good unit, then it's definitely worth the price. The screen and performance is amazing.

This is a bizarre thing for them to tell you. Mostly because it's not true.
I'm literally typing this from the exact same model that I bought two weeks ago. Upgraded to 2 TB storage without problem.

I agree and I found the 1 TB limitation to be very odd. What led me to believe it was true was the response from Asus and, at that point, I didn't want to chance it.
Had I known it wasn't true I would have kept the laptop.

Lol, don't rely on Best Buy employees for correct, or even mildly truthful information
