my personal advice is save the money for a much more meaningful upgrade down the road.

6950xt has better rasterized performance while 3080 will do better in RT and also support DLSS. so you're essentially trading off features/performance, so not a meaningful upgrade.

and you already have a 3080 - don't reward these companies by keep buying their cards, especially when you don't need em.

unless you can sell your 3080 for more than the cost of 6950xt and make some money, i'd say it's not worth the hassle.
More...make them hurt more...
So happy I waited it out b/c I was disappointed I missed out when NewEgg was selling the card $600, but out of nowhere Amazon is selling it today for $567. Best price I've seen for this card hands down, and this is cheaper than what I bought my 6800 XT for last year 🙄😒🤦🏽 ♂🤷🏽 ♂... Not only do I not anticipate this card getting discounted any lower in price, but I highly doubt it would be feasible for it to happen b/c these will probably get sold out so I pulled the trigger IMMEDIATELY!!! 😅😆😂 And adding the RE4 Remake to the mix is not a bad touch might I add 😁.

There isn't.

You should buy now and wallow in shame and regret later.

On the fence about buying this, but I'd have to build a new PC around it. Anyone have any advice on a CPU and mobo that would pair well with this?

Every performance benchmark I can find points to the 4070 for 1440p gaming. Less power by almost 100-150 watts, better performance across a wider gamut of games (obviously there are some exceptions that prefer the AMD architecture).

I'm really scratching my head why people bought this card so quickly.
Because that model apparently has a lot of hotspot issues:

That depends on your underlying intention regarding how you plan to use the PC and your budget. If it's strictly for gaming then I'd suggest opting for either the R5 5600X or the R7 5800X3D since you won't have to opt for DDR5 RAM when DDR4 is cheaper. If you're using it for productivity, I would suggest either buying a R9 5950X or an Intel Core i9-12900K, but w/ Intel you have the choice of either opting for DDR4 or DDR5 RAM. Now, these CPUs go on sale pretty often so I would recommend only buying them at a discounted rate. To take it a step further, I would also recommend looking out for combo deals when they are on promotion when retailers such as MicroCenter and NewEgg are bundling CPUs+GPUs (and sometimes RAM) together.

This is the price I was waiting for. I don't expect there is enough inventory for additional discounts

Fair warning, these cards are SUPER long due to the fan shroud extending an extra inch or so farther than it really needs to. Check what your case can hold before ordering.

Told myself the same thing when I got it from Newegg for $600 on Monday. Turned out Amazon has plenty in stock, even at $567. HOLD YOUR LIME PEOPLE! LMAO
