I am looking for a review that measures the actual screen brightness. Please link if you know of one. Thanks.

Maybe they don't care about whether or not it is OLED and just want a matte screen? That would be my preference so I do t have to deal with the glare and burn in.

I7-12700H is ranked 76th out of 1,406 processors. The thirteenth gen is ranked 41st. The thirteenth gen chips are supposed to be very good actually. However, playing around with PCs last week at best buy. It still often takes several seconds to load up a site like YouTube on the newest laptops. It's hard to tell the difference in most situations, even compared to the tenth gen laptop I was coming from. Will we ever see laptops where things load instantaneously?
BeOS, sigh.

Did you read the post following? I posted inaccurate information and wanted to prevent confusion. I've no clue why you jumped to such conclusion.

Cute.
They're not even the same models and the one you linked is literally 2 generations old. They could be using a different manufactured OLED display for this one.
Trying this again--I think this is the right one--although it comes with an i9 rather than an i7 CPU. As far as I can tell, the display is the same:

I have an Asus Zenbook OLED from last year. It's the 15" model, but I'd assume my experience with that will apply towards this one as well.

I love mine. The screen is beautiful, the CPU is blazing fast, and 16 GB RAM is enough for 99% of my daily tasks. Hell, even the trackpad on mine is awesome.

My one complaint is that the battery life isn't amazing. It's closer to average than to bad, so it's not a deal breaker for me.

I agree. it bought the 12th Gen Core i7 version of this laptop. I have nothing but good thing to say. the screen was brighter than i expected and the laptop is very fast.

I think for $800, this laptop is a steal.

All the people complaining about the display being glossy, I can assume have literally zero knowledge about laptops. It's an OLED display, they are going to be glossy whether it be a $550 or $1500 laptop. That's the whole point of OLED displays, they're supposed to make the colors pop and look vibrant, matte displays are never going to give you that and no matter how good and accurate the color coverage is, they're still going to look washed out as compared to OLEDs.

If you don't want glossy displays then why in the world are you even looking at a laptop with an OLED display.
We aren't complaining about wanting an OLED display to be matte. We're complaining that the trend now is glossy screens, OLED, IPS or whatever. The mid to high end laptops all seem to be either going OLED or touchscreen, which makes it difficult to find a good deal on a laptop with a matte screen. It's just how things are going and people seem to prefer the glossy/touchscreens hence why more laptops are configured this way.

For this laptop the OLED isn't why the deal is appealing to me, it's the 13th gen i7. If this was an IPS I'd still consider it as the specs are solid for the price.

Funny enough, I got my Grandma that 7i, and I have the 2022 Zenbook model. I think the Zenbook is better, simply because of the OLED screen. There's also the fact that the Zenbook has 16 GB RAM, whereas the 7i has 8GB (assuming we are talking about the same one that is $799 on BB's website)

I got one of these last week from bestbuy.com. I knew it would eventually go on sale but it's a new item and I assumed that wouldn't happen until Black Friday at the best. I'm very glad bestbuy has a price match policy and I just got refunded $200 plus tax.

Anyway, it's a fantastic laptop and if you read the bestbuy reviews you'll see many say it was a steal at $1000 so it's now one of the best deals out there for $800.

I previously bought a 15.6 Asus VivoBook OLED from Walmart and returned it due to heat/fan noise issues. It had an i7-12700H CPU so I was worried about the i7-13700H on this one. But this is much cooler and quieter than the VivoBook was. The fan does run some if the laptop is on my chest, but it's very quiet in standard mode and you can set it for whisper mode to make it near silent with normal use. The CPU is super fast, one of the fastest out there in a laptop. This is not a game machine but I read the new Intel built-in GPU (Iris Xe) is much better than in the past and while it may not yet match a Ryzen, it's getting closer.

The screen is gorgeous and while I like matte, this glossy screen is sharp and no problem for me. I think its about 500 nits, is plenty bright, hi-res makes it easy to read text, and colors just jump out with the OLED. The speakers (set at "dynamic") are amazing for a laptop this size. They not only sound great, but can get super loud as well. Best speakers I've had in a laptop though I hear a Macbook is even better (but never had one). But it's still a laptop so don't expect miracles.

Ports are just OK since there is just one USB A port and while there are two USB C Thunderbolt ports, one is used up if you use external power. There is no SD card port. The HDMI port is version 2.1 which is good for external 4K video. The memory is soldered in and can't be expanded though you can replace the m.2 SSD if you wish to upgrade (it is Gen 4).

The touchpad can light up as a number pad which looks great, but I think is still a bit of a gimmick unless you practice using it.

I love the simple look of it and the all metal case is icing on the cake!
