Not often does Sony outdo MS on the hardware/OS front, but this is a definite plus. Even with a price reduction for the USB drives for the Xbox, it's still a lot more expensive and I'd like more internal storage

To be fair, that's not an usb connection on the Xbox for expansion. However, Sony's solution is much better, at least cost wise.

No heat sync, and slower speeds than the WD Black that's only like $15 more.

Getting awfully tempted to replace the 1tb I bought with my ps5 at launch with a new 2tb just for the extra room.

Yea that heatsinks the one I use personally. It's a solid one/excellent. I'm gonna pick up some spares, they're usually 11-14 bucks last I looked at them. Thank you!

The pricing's not bad at all for the specs you get on a budget Gen 4 NVMe SSD.

Non Pro 980 is DRAM-less if that helps you.

Any way to use this with an Xbox Series S or X?
Not exactly. Much like the PS5, you can store all your games on it using an external case. If you have XBOX One or 360 games on it, you can play them from it without eating up the internal storage, but your Series X/S games have to be in the internal drive to be playable.

Hey the manufacturer for this on Amazon has the ssd w/ heat sink for 10$ more. Any reason why you would recommend a separate heat sink over the combination made by the manufacturer?

No, go for it! At the time of the post, I dont remember seeing an option with heatsink, or it was more expensive than buying a heatsink separately. What I will say though, is that heatsink I linked is very solid. But no, if you have the option to get it at the same price as a package deal, go for it.

How does it compare with the WD SN770 that's also on sale for $46? Does it come down to DRAM or No DRAM?
