Here it is fellas. This is the lowest price I've seen. And don't worry it's dishwasher safe (according to Amazon) but I wouldn't recommend washing.

And I still see it in your original post https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif When I saw that, I had to go see it for myself on Amazon
Thanks. Yes I think this feature makes the deal even more slick.

This or the $999 Denon at Adorama? https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/844688

Depends on brand preference and priority of features.
If you don't have a brand preference and power and Dirac are at the top in features.
This might be the better choice.

If you use an external amp, the power advantage may not be a big difference/benefit.
As far as Dirac, Dirac Live RC is included in the price of this.
The 3800 you will have to purchase Dirac ($349) & a calibrated mic($100-$125).

On the other hand, in the long run the 3800 will get the option for the other half of Diracโ€ฆ. DLBC some time next year, unlike this AVR.

Here is a comparison that should help.

It's a nice receiver if you need Dirac love BUT you'll still end up needing an external amplifier, these just don't have enough power like most receivers when you drive more than two channels.

Do the HDMI ports in these Onkyo still crap out after a year or have they fixed that issue?
I've had an Onkyo RZ830 since early 2019 and has had no issues with HDMI ports (I hope I don't jinx it with this post). I had an older one that had some issue and had to be replaced under warranty in 2012.

Onkyo has the same holding company as Pioneer and Teac so who knows what parts are mixed in each brand nowadays

Great price, but I am still waiting for it to hit $899 range. In the meantime, TX RZ830 is still holding strong.

Man there have been some good deals on receivers lately. I just purchased a Yamaha RXA-6A and would still prefer that one over these two.

But you spent a lot more money for it. These are really nice receivers, but a step below the 6A.

External amp for hard to drive speakers in a larger room? What if you are using it a smaller room with easy to drive speakers?

Well only one way to really find out. And personally I play my media loud so I need clean power with headroom. I have the model just below this and it was very underwhelming so I went with an external amplifier right away. I did try out the receiver's power first but YMMV with your speakers of course. I also dislike the price of Dirac Live but that's just how it is. The feature is pretty amazing to be fair.

Denon all the way. Dirac isn't worth the poor onkyo reliability.

Keep in mind you have to pay $350 for Dirac with the Denon and then a microphone like the Umik1 to calibrate it which is another $100 or so. The mic included with the Denon won't work for Dirac. That adds another $450 + tax to the $999 price. I upgrade receivers about every five years as tech and standards change so I bought Onkyo for a lower price expecting to use it for a few years. I think if you plan to keep the Denon for a long time it's probably more reliable. If you upgrade like I do it might make sense to put that $450 aside and use it for the next purchase.

I'm inclined to think if you have easy to drive speakers like Klipsch HT speakers and it's not a really large room volume would be more than enough. I like things on the louder side but not where it's going to damage my hearing or be uncomfortable. I've never come close to maxing out a receiver in my medium sized living room.
