I just bought both this and the x13 when they were both $50 more. I prefer the x16 and will be returning the x13. It took a little setup but it's working well for me.

Of note... This x16 will charge pretty quickly on 3rd party 100w chargers, so you can avoid traveling with a power brick in most cases. Gaming on silent mode, battery will drain while plugged in at about 10% per hour, at least as I have it configured. I'm currently playing Hogwarts legacy in the native resolution on high and it's averaging around 50-60fps on silent.

The x13, caps 3rd party usb chargers at 65W. This was a dealbreaker for me as I aim to be able to travel with a small 3rd party charger, but also spend a couple hours gaming here and there. Having to bring the asus usb c power brick with me in order to game is... Annoying.

It should be noted that the x16 only comes with the 240W power brick, no USB C charger as suggested by the listing. I've successfully used an old insignia 90w charger I got on the cheap at a full 90W and an anker 736 at 100W. The x13 does not support these.

I ordered the X13 deal for 899 and it is due to arrive in a day or two.... but this deal looks nice and I would really like the screen size and resolution upgrade along with the beefier graphics card. The charger for me is not as big of a deal. Aside from the 65w charging how was the x13 for you compared to the x16?

I literally just got this laptop (and am typing this comment on it) about 2 weeks ago Open Box for $1033. If you're sitting on the fence between this and other flow laptops/tablet here are the main differences:

X13/Z13 use a 35w (or something very close to that) RTX 3050ti. I might wager that for the 6900HS variant that the onboard Radeon 680M might even trade blows with that given that low wattage... that's an assumption though.

X13/Z13 have soldered RAM SoDIMMs, so don't expect to upgrade that. The M.2 sizes are also 2230 which is the same size as the SSDs in the ROG ALLY and Steam Deck, prices have come down for them significantly over the year, but still look to around $130-150 for a 2TB.

The X13/X16 (2022) laptops should have a BIOS update for USB4. This means you could use an eGPU over thunderbolt, but it'll be understandably slower than the XG mobile graphics. The Z13 is Intel based and so it should already have USB4/Thunderbolt enabled but I've heard that's kind of a dicey setup with a TB eGPU too.

X16: Has to SoDIMM slots, you could put in 2x32GB DDR5 sticks. I haven't done this yet as I haven't found any documentation on the max frequency the board is capable of. There's also a spare m.2 2280 slot you could just add another SSD to. Also, this has a Mediatek wifi card which seems kind of dodgy... even this one I'm using I'll probably end up replacing in the near future.

Lastly about this X16, the USB-C port is 100w capable, I've tested this with a few chargers. The X13/Z13 "official" or "OEM" charger listed below will also charge at 90w~ or so:

Just as elenex says though, I assume any other 3rd party 100w chargers will work.

The main sell of these flow laptops are the XG mobile port and the convertible/2-in-1 ability. I'd say if you don't care for either of those, you probably save money or gain performance by choosing one of ASUS' other laptops like the G14 you mentioned.

For an older model. The previous gen with the 6800s has been down to $900 and is very much worth the extra $$$

Does this computer actually have a 2K display? I think I read somewhere that the Best Buy model is only 1080p.

It is indeed 2560x1600. As far as I can tell it's an IPS display though, not miniLED like the 3070Ti model.

The got one also at $1033 on open box excellent (1096 after tax).
I think there were only two because when I got mine the offer was gone.
I've yet to receive it as I live in Europe and it's with a friend in the US and just arranging how to get it here.
How was the condition for yours?
Any advice how to configure it and dos vs don'ts?

Ooh... interesting! From what I could tell, it's a floor model. The shell and everything looks quite good, the retail box has seen better days but that's to be expected. I'm not sure if it was supposed to have a stylus in the box as I can't find any information on it, so I'm guessing no.

As for configurations.
If you're not familiar with MUX switches, I'd say that's the one thing for sure you should be familiar with. There's a setting in Armoury Crate under "GPU Mode" that has: Ultimate, Standard, Eco Mode, Optimized. If you hover over each option it kind of tells you what it does but not explicitly. Basically Ultimate is the RTX3060 only, so if I were gaming only, I'd use that mode (which requires a restart). Standard and Optimized bounce in between the RTX3060 and the integrated 680M, but most likely neither is being used most efficiently. So for maximum battery life, you'll want Eco Mode to disable the RTX3060 and use only the 680M. I think you can probably game decently (at 1080p or lower of course) even with the 680M (that iGPU is technically more powerful than a Steam Deck).

As for dos and don'ts... based on what I read up today, seems like a DO is get a new Wi-Fi card, and a don't, is don't waste money on 5200 or 5600 mt/s DDR5 RAM; I just entered the BIOS before making this post, and it's completely locked down, which I would assume means any installed RAM will just default to the system 4800 mt/s. So you'll probably want to get CL38 or CL40 4800 mt/s RAM for upgrades.

Hope this helps!

I have this laptop. I am having a lot of problems with it failing to wake up from sleep. When it does wake up, it often has changed basic settings or won't sign-in correctly without multiple restarts.

Is this the issue where you have to hold the power button on the side to turn it off before turning it back on when it doesn't wake up from sleep? It's a known issue and I think a simple setting fix worked for me, but it's been a few months now since I did that so I don't recall how I did it. Should be a quick google though.
