You are missing the distance factor.

A 32" 720p screen becomes "retina" at about 75" away. If you are closer than 75" from screen, your eyes could see more detail. Greater than 75" away you cannot.

Picked one up on Audubon, NJ for $80. All the locations here say "unknown" on brickseek but I decided to gamble and stop by. The unit was in the back and had no clearance sticker.

I got 2 of these back in February for $100 each at a local Wal-Mart. Being VA instead of IPS I definitely the change in viewing angles. For the price though I think they are great, but if it was curved I think it would FIS the issue. Also, I have them on a desk mount side by side, so if I move father from the monitors, it might help as well.

Definitely a good deal due to its size alongside its price if you don't mind it being a VA panel. However, there are none available at any of the nearby stores in my area.

Audubon, NJ - Brickseek listed as unknown but I gambled and they had it in the back. No clearance sticker so didn't know price until it was scanned.
